Have an embaressing probling with main PC

...Everything is bright, virulent pink. I can see everything fine but everything is tinted...pink. Now while I like most of my gaming accessories to be pink, (Pink DS, pink Xbox 360 controller.. even thinking about spray painting pink stripes on my Elite) but this is a bit much, don't you think? Playing Oblivion..in PINK. *shudder* Poor Sheo...

Is this a graphics card problem or a monitor problem? Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it might be a pinched monitor cable. Just straighten out your cables and realign the connectors. If that's not the problem, well, the good news is if it's a graphics card problem, it's more likely you'll just see a huge swath of bright green or something that you absolutely cannot see through, so I can almost guarantee it's not your video card.

Nice icon, reminds me of the manga Superior :P

It might be the connection to the videocard or the monitor is slightly ajar.

That or your monitor is dying. Borrow a different monitor and see if that changes anything.

If not, it's probably your videocard dying. Woot!

I get it alot, though my screen goes green.. It's usually just knocking the cable connection slightly ajar.. I can't see it being anything else tbh.. 90% cable.. 9% its your monitor.. less than a % it's your graphics card.

Did you recently take your monitor out of a closet? I think the problem might be there.

I tried fiddling with the cords and it didn't do anything. So it may be my monitor. I'll call in my computer guy and see if I need a new one. Maybe I can get one of those really big flat-screen ones. :O~

Is it pink'ish all the time or only for shorts amount of time?
And.. if you have another monitor in the house you should try using that one and see if the effect's still there. If it isnt you should try using the VGA cable from the 2nd monitor on the first. Then you'll know if it's the first monitor or it's cable.

Well, it doesn't have to be the graphics card. I have an old 17" monitor I use for my dreamcast which occasionally has a broken vertical line of pixels which emit bright green.

While I won't doubt what somebody earlier said about getting stripes across his monitor due to a bad video card, I will say that it is my experience that this is not the case. Video card defects associated with overheating or general breakdown generally results in artifacting which is seen as random sections of the screens, often in polygonal shapes ( read: no curved edges ) being seen as random colors. Bright green seems most common and in my experience, is what actually happens, but I've heard of people having pink and bright blue or yellow craziness.

Btw, if you can get your hands on a 21" widescreen or better, latch on and don't let go! Those things are lovely! 19" here and I wouldn't go back ever.

Monitors now are mad cheap compared to a pair of years ago, I remember struggling for my 17 inches one back when 800x600 was the way to go, now I can get a 22" for 300 bucks easy.

It's definitely either that or she must have clicked her heels 3 times instead of 4 before turning on her monitor.
