change the aspect ratio of your tele to Letterbox, if you're wanting the bars at top + bottom.

If it has a letterbox mode go for that, I should buy a new TV...then maybe I would know for sure what a widescreen TV can and can't do.

Just use your monitor like I do, invest in a half decent TV card and you're sorted..

Nah it just the fact that I don't watch TV much and when I do its the science channel or History, or even discovery. And I have a 37" Sony that about 6 years old (Still works great) thats downstairs...I don't have a Blueray or HD anything so I have seen no point in buying one yet.
