360 Headset won't work

Firstly, I don't believe it's broken. Well, fully. I can only hear through my TV screen now for some odd reason, so I had my friend come into private chat with me to test it, and time to time while he's talking his voice would pop up in my headset as well. I don't know why it's acting up on me -.-, but I should also add that:

- this is my first and only headset, been using it for 2 360 years.
- My Regular Xbox headset used to act like this before it broke down the road.

And very off-topic, but if anyone can answer I'd really appreciate it: any clue how to get widescreen bars (up and down black bars) on my 32" HDTV in my room?

First question, is it a wired or wireless headset. If wireless reset the connection on the headset/ make sure its fully charged. If wired "Make sure the headset connector is plugged in securely. Try adjusting the volume using the volume control on the headset connector." Sometimes the volume control wheel gets stuck in a low or intermittent state also can others hear you?


Second question you might need to change your screen resolution to 16:9 if its set at 4:3.

It's wired, and it's not the volume, and it's in all the way. When I used to plug in my headset to my controller, I could hear a tiny insertion sound come from the headset itself which basically indicates that it's fully plugged in. I don't hear that sound anymore, but I know that it is. Nothing seems to have broken off of it, either.

Also... how do I check if the screen's at 16:9 or 4:3 ;_;

2 years is a pretty good run on a standard 360 headset, just might be time for a new one.

And there should be something along the lines of "Widescreen Setting" In the TV's menu.

Well, on the 360 dashboard, it says that it's already set on Widescreen. But it doesn't say whether it's 16:9 or 4:3. My TV remotes won't show me either...

Ahh if the 360 is set to widescreen it will fill the whole screen so you wont have the black bars.

Well, yeah, that's the disappointing part. I -want- the black bars. I think it adds an epic movie feel to a game and immerses you a lot more. Whenever I watch a trailer of a videogame on a TV with the widescreen bars, I think, "Holy crap, even on my HDTV it doesn't look that cool or immersive". Do you know how I can do this?

Since you have a widescreen TV I don't think you can add the black bars...only if you went back to a 4:3 TV. Setting the 360 to 4:3 will only add black bars to the vertical not the horizontal.

o.O did you mean horizontal? Black bars to the vertical is up and down, it's what I want.

Oh, then just set the 360 dashboard to not Widescreen, 4:3 ratio.
Like 1280×1024 res.

I can't ;_;... oh, I think we misunderstood each other. If by your definition, I want Horizontal Black Bars, at the top of the screen, and at the bottom. I thought that since one bar is positioned at the top of the screen and the other is positioned at the bottom, you'd call them vertical bars. If they are called horizontal bars, and I can't have them, then dammit -.-...

You could always change the aspect on your TV, and leave the 360 alone. Just a thought.

If so you can't get those bars on a wide screen TV.
