I hope you didnt fry it, if there wasnt any smoke you should be ok. I think I had the same problem on the first PC i built and all it was was the BIOS didnt see a CPU fan so it shut itself down, and I have no idea what I did to fix that. Good luck on fixing the problem, maybe someone else can be of more help then me.

I would make sure all the fans are hooked up correctly on the motherboard. Make sure all the connectors are in the right area, many use the same connection and some need to go into designated slots.

I'm pretty sure the CPU fan is hooked up correctly (it's running, and the mobo instructions show the connector pins-- and really, there's nowhere else for it to be hooked up, lol. The little pins have "CPU fan" written on it). What I'm worried about is my processor came with thermal strips on the bottom of the heatsink, and when I seated it in the mobo the damn thing slid around like a wet fish ;.;
I'll try resetting the CPU....anyone have any tips for cleaning the thermal compound off? XD |

Rubbing alcohol gets the thermal paste off pretty quick.
Newegg is good with RMAs, so if you have to send anything back, you're in good hands. I'd read through the mobo's manual first to find any troubleshooting section on beeps and what they mean. A last ditch effort would be to sign up on the HardForum.com and ask for help. I'm there. It's safe. ![]()

do you have any spare parts that could work with the system your building? i mean.. could you try replacing the graphics card, then trying the RAM sticks, then CPU if you have any extra (ya .. my friend did have an extra one laying around lol).

Move the videocard into a different slot, if you haven't already.
I had the same problem as you, Chu, with my little eVGA mATX SLi mobo, but it turned out it was...omfg, I can't remember. I thought it was the powerswitch touching the case metal, but it turned out it was something else. Something in the bios? Ram being in the wrong slots? Powerswitch cable plugged in backwards? Dammit! Can't remember! I found it eventually, but I can't remember what it was! >_<

I wasted my time.
I'm going to RMA the processor, mobo, memory and power supply. The motherboard is obviously a piece of crap that works for about 5% of the people who buy them. A piece of crap which fried up both memory sticks like KFC strips. I'm just going to try and get as much of my money back as I possibly can and give up; I'm stuck with a crappy damn computer. I can't believe I wasted so much money on this. |

What? No way! I'd get my money back, but try different parts.
![]() That, or buy pre-built. But Pre-built sucks. My nerdsoul hurts for you, Chu.
