Yet an other desktop upgrade question with limited budget :<

Hello fellas I want to upgrade my computer for aion(aion only so I will probly wait)
my current system config is;
cpu: intel pentium 4 3.00ghz (it says 2 cpus here I have no clue what this means Im prety sure it isnt dual core, dual c0res werent even at the market when I bought this :s)
I have 2048 ram (they are 400 mhz do I need to change these aswell if Im passing to 16x mainboard ?)
my main board is very old, its 8x (ms-6788 I guess)
I have 350 watt power supply, 7200 rpm hdd
Oh I also need a new case for the stuff my current one is.... wait for it...... SIX years old I usely need to kick the button part to start it has only 1 fan working (yes my comp overheats from time to time )

My screencard is ati radeon (shapphire) x1650 pro (256 mb) as I remember I bought this so that I can use it even after I upgrade to 16x mainboard dunno if this is true tho ? :< )

Now I would be happy if the upgrades wont pass 450 - 550 dolars but yea I know my comp is a little too old (but atleast I kinda like my graph card I can play crysis at medium and teamfortress 2 at maxed out 4x AA with 40 fps so, dunno perhaps I can upgrade the graph card later???)

Well what do you think I would realy appriciate your help since I dont know much about hardware please explain a little btw so I can learn and stuff

I'm not sure what the prices are like in Turkey, but I would recommend perhaps saving up a bit more and just rebuilding an entirely new PC..

Is the x1650 Pro an AGP card(My guess would be yes?). If so then yeah I would recommend an overhaul on your PC since it's using some pretty dated stuff. :/

A new CPU would require a new mobo, which will require a new video card since most cards today use PCI-E. Which will then most likely require a new PSU(depending on what card you buy, and the quality of the current PSU), which will also require some new ram.. and well yeah.. you get where this is going.

If that current rig can play Crysis then it'll be enough to play Aion. Judging by the beta requirements you wouldn't have problems playing on low or perhaps medium settings anyways.

350 watt power is low for a new mobo and cpu ? :s as far as I understood shapphire radeon x1650 pro can be used both at agp and pci express (help me with this one please I googled and read a little but not sure) 400 mhz rams must be replaced with new mobo ? :<

oh and prices at turkey at computer parts are the same with every where

All I want is to upgrade my system something that I can play aion at medium (1024x768, 1280 1024 would be realy nice ) with avarage 20-30 fps and NOT lower then 15 fps at crovded areas :s I know we wont know exactly the system requirements untill after the game's lunch and what fps which system will get since all we have is beta data but well... please make guesses and help me here :s

please give me some models if you can for the upgrade (I might pass 600 a little since I will be buying these in 2-3 months ;<)

You are seeing more than 1 CPU because of hyperthreading were the CPU runs as 2 virtual cores supporting a thread each.

Your RAM is a bit slow, you can get great 800mhz RAM relatively cheaply and to be honest until DDR3 prices drop and their timmings get alot tighter it isn't worth the cash for the slight improvement you'll see.

PSU you can get 750watt ones that should run any new comp with a single high end video card.

Any on of the mid to high graphics cards should run Aion fine so you don't have to break your bank to do it.

tnx for the reply diablo I guess Im going for E6750 cpu(dual core 2.33 4mb chache) 800 mhz 2g kingston and as for board Im thinking something a little on the top so it will be open to upgrades lateron,

E8400 CPU
2GB ram should be fine tbh, though if you're using x64 OS then go for 4gb
grab yourself a 9600GT for a budget card upgrade
A corsair or PC Power And Cooling PSU won't do you any harm either

You can't really get a decent board open for upgrades later, as the Nahalem cores are out next year, which'll be a different socket to the current cpus and also require, iirc, ddr3 ram - which is pointless buying now anyway as it's expensive and slow for the price..

350W is okay depending on the manufacturer. If it's a no name brand the odds are its a pile of poo thats overrated and will not put out the wattage labeled. Feel free to provide us info on it if you'd like. Perhaps the name brand, the model number, and the UL number(picture shown below. This number tells you who the exact oem manufacturer of the unit is).

The x1650 Pro has a AGP and a PCI-E version. The card itself doesn't necessarily support both types.. Well I mean the AGP version won't work with a mobo that supports PCI-E and vise versa.

For those resolutions and settings I would think a 8600GT(s) would probably be alright(based on beta requirements). You can also look into the 8800GS/9600GT if you can spend a little more, but upgrading to either of those may require a new PSU depending on the quality of it.

I would hold off just before the release of the game so prices can drop a tad bit more. It'll save you a bit since it most likely won't be released for months. :3

It depends on the video card. What you mainly want to look at is the amperage on the +12V. Let me know which card you plan on buying.

And if the mobo supports PCI-E it'll support any series card that uses PCI-E.
