Ohhh yea ^_^...A lot of people are expecting a 50% boost in performance for R700 over R600, I hope it to be bigger considering how badly R600 was accepted at first >_<. Will have to see what surprising ATI has in store, but I know for a fact the performance of GT200 is going to be massive >_<....Well, not for a fact, but it's heavily believed it will =P.

I have read the "new wine old bottles" article about the nvidia 9000's. How much better are the new cards going to perform? will this be worth the amazingly high price when they come out?

Once again newpick asking about computer hardware when he knows nothing about it!

Everyone from here on out can blame me for lag because somehow i have broken the internet or so some people (fellow gamers) claim.

When you consider that it's comparing a new line of gpu's to an old line - it's not really that fantastic. Sure twice as powerful as the 3870X2 is pretty impressive, but we've yet to see what R770 brings to the table.. if R770 is even 1.8x quicker than the 3870X2 (Mid-high probability imho) then the results of the GTX series compared to the R770s, you'll see maybe a 20% difference as opposed to a 120% difference.

I'm guessing that graph came from nVidia PR, ATi could do the same thing - comparing their R770's to the current 9 Series and showing probably 150% increase, then everyone would be like "whoa those figures are hot". I severely dislike companies comparing their latest and greatest to their rival companies previous line instead of their rivals latest... But then again it's nVidia - it's to be expected.

Personally I'm reserving all judgement on the next lines until I actually see the results for myself, I don't believe any of this crap the companies release themselves.

Same here. I'm really curious about graphic display quality, not just FPS.

I've been holding off on getting a new vid card cause I know the new ones are coming out and seeing as how their gonna be relatively better i'm either gonna be getting the new ones if they are cheap enough for me to buy seeing as how my personal budget is roughly $200-$210. I've been keeping my eye on this xfx 8800gt 512mb for $179.99 canadian. Now i'm hoping that the price drops even more once the new cards come out but just now I saw from tigerdirect the same card only its a zalman cooling edition for $169.99. No free game but I can live without it and this one comes with a cooler which appears to be better then the normal one allowing for more comfortable overclocking for even better performance.
XFX GeForce 8800 GT Video Card - Zalman Edition, 512MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV PVT88PYSF4 in Canada at TigerDirect.ca

Now my question if I were to get a card now(i'm itching to get one seeing as how i've been using my integrated 6100 for a month+) I would prob def go for the zalman cooling xfx 8800gt. Should I wait to see if the price drops even more in a week or two when the new cards come out? Also, realistically speaking what are some of your guesses on affordable prices more specifically do you think their will be a card around $200 that will perform better then the 8800gt?

*and on a final rant WHY CANT THE NEW CARDS COME OUT SOONER!!*

They are eternally releasing newer, bigger badder cards, the cycle just never ends. It doesn't matter what card you buy it will be obsolete in a matter of months.

I just stick to S3, I only have to upgrade my card every 2-3 years and im always up to date, screw Nvidia and ATI

My two Chrome 440GTX's are ready to tackle this game

I've been reading about some benchmarks of the 4850 and well they are looking really nice. One benchmark I saw had it beating out the 9800gtx. Plus the price of the card is gonna be for canadians (me) around I think #221 from some posts I saw and the us retail is like $199? Either way for the prices sitting around there for a performance a bit better or simply better then 9800gtx. Well just wow. Anyone else got more solid Info? I'm like semi regretting buying my 8800gt since i'm still happy with the performance of it and the price I got it at but wow the 4850 is looking good.

*just checked tigerdirect.ca and the canadian price they're selling at is $243.99

edit #2. Sweet I think I found a canadian store selling it for $199.99 like the us price. Makes me tempted to see if I can sell my 8800gt and get that.
