Slim case compatible parts.

so i made the mistake of buying a slimcase dell from a private owned computer store. the guy told me and my dad that it would be easily upgradeable which im finding to be untrue.

so other than that, heres my dilemma.
i need a 400+W (budget 80-100$) and a pci express card. both need to be small enough to fit into a slim case. if anyone knows of a webstore that i can find these at i would be appreciative.

in your guys opinion how much would i be able to sell a dell vostro for on ebay???

im thinking about just starting over.

The case is easily "upgradable" if it uses your standard ATX form factor hardware. Which I believe Dell uses now since I remember reading that they use Asus boards. As for PSUs Corsair or the Antec earthwatts are usually the best bang for the buck. Just to let you know you can only use Google checkout once per account. Or if you have multiple credit cards sign up for different accounts to take advantage of it.

Corsair VX 450w Power Supply - CMPSU-450VX - Buy.com

Use Google checkout to get $10 off for free making it a total of $50 after rebate.

Or an Antec 380W for $13 after rebate and google checkout.

Antec Earthwatt 380W P/Satx 12V v.2.2 80MM P/S2 Fan 80-Plus Certified - EA380 - Buy.com

As for the video card I've never used a slim case, but I'm guessing it should support all cards since I'm fairly certain all PCI-E cards are the same height. It's the length that may differ. There are some extremely nice deals going on right now.

Gigabyte 8800GT 512MB PCIe OC Video Card w/ Zalman Cooler + Neverwinter Nights 2 $140 After $40 MIR, XFX 8800GT 512MB PCIe Video Card w/ Zalman $144 After $30MIR - SlickDeals.net Forums

Gigabyte 8800GT /w Neverwinter Nights 2 for $140 after rebate.

XFX 8800GT "Zalman Edition" for $144 after rebate.

If you're feeling real cheap and just want something to play Aion. There's a 2600XT for $20 after rebate and Google checkout

Diamond Viper Radeon HD 2600XT 256MB GDDR3 128-bit 800 MHZ PCI-E x16 HDCP Supported Video Card - 2600XT256PE3SB - Buy.com

Oh yeah... Tell me the specs of the Vostro too. Don't want to run into any bottleneck issues.

Check out these PSUs by Athena. I ordered them from least expensive to most, but that's also the order of power. So the cheapest is also the least powerful (the palest, most anemic looking kid on the block, lol):

Newegg.com - Athena Power AP-MPS3ATX40 ATX12V MicroATX PS3 v 2.2 400W Power Supply 115/230 V cUL,UL, TUV, CB, CE - Retail Support most of HP & some of Dell systems - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - Athena Power AP-MP4ATX40 ATX12V MicroATX SFX12V v 2.2 400W Power Supply 115/230 V cUL,UL, TUV, CB, CE - Retail Support most of E-machine systems - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - Athena Power AP-MPS3ATX47E 470W Micro PS3 / ATX V2.2 / EPS-12V Nickel Coating Power Supply Support most of Dell and HP Systems 115/ 230 V CB, CE, FCC, TUV, RoHS - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - Athena Power AP-MPS3ATX55E 550W Micro PS3 / ATX V2.2 / EPS-12V Nickel Coating Power Supply Support most of Dell and HP Systems 115/ 230 V CB, CE, FCC, TUV, RoHS - Power Supplies

Here's a side-by-side comparison page:

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

In the future, just make your own PC.

Dell arranges their damn Case in a dumb way so that you cant upgrad to anything but a dell case and that possibly wont even work. they put all the USB and Multimedia jacks in an awkward bundled up area making it extremely hard to impossible to upgrade.

I think ill just sell the damn thing and start over. Ty guys for the help.
