32BIt OS
Just wondering since i plan on upgrading my 8600gt 256mb to a 512 or more video.
I keep hearing 32bit OS use 2GB or 3GB of ram max. So lets say i have 2GB of DDR2 ram and buy a 512mb Video making it 2.5gb of ram would i need a 64bit OS to use it my video card to optimize performance? Or is that 2GB/3GB ram limit on 32bit OS is only for Physical RAM and does not have anything to do with video memory? |

32 bit OS can map up to 4GB of memory, of that your videocard will talke up 512MB, other things take up additional mapping so once you get over 3 you begin to run out of useable memory. It's there but off the map so the OS does not know to utilize it.
