I decided to go back to playing Lineage 2 to stop me from going crazy from boredom!

My question is... has anyone running Vista Ultimate x64 had a problem with games rendering the
mouse pointer? I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate x64 from XP Pro x86 and now when i reloaded
Lineage 2 my mouse pointer won't show up

I have updated my mouse drivers, video card drivers ect. and still no go...


Anyone had this problem and found a fix for it?

This is the answer to your question.

Many new pieces of hardware come with there own drivers and applications to supposedly improve there proformance and customisation. Windows vista has a amazingly stupid program called UAC(user account control). This program pretty much stops anything that is not vista certified from working. I will make it so you cant bind mouse push to talk buttons to your mouse for CS or vent. They have also hid UAC from you making it difficult to turn off, fortunately I have switched back to a hacked version of XP lite for extreme gaming purposes. But I have used vista 64 a ton and am glad I can help you with this. I dont remember the exact location of the option menu that lets you turn off UAC. I believe you will find it in your user account control section of control panel.

I think your problem is the whole 'playing l2' thing.

If you turn off graphic cursor in options can you see the regular windows cursor? If you can, then try going back to the graphic cursor.

phadyd, that is irrelevant to what's going on here. Also L2 has some major gameguard problems that started blocking mouse buttons and keyboard shortcuts. For example many people bind CTRL to their thumb mouse button, you can no longer do this, nor bind vent push-to-talk to a mouse button. And your keyboard shortcuts (for example if you have a media keyboard with volume and play/skip buttons) will not work while L2 is running.

I hope dearly that Aion will not have the same problems.

I couldnt find a search of it on blah or l2 official forums, so I dont think its a vista problem.

Its not UAC or anything like that, I have a laptop that runs Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
and have run Lineage 2 on it before. Im not sure if its because its 64 bit or if it may be a
hardware conflict.

My system is as follows :
AMD Athlon 64 Dual core 6000+
4 GB Ram
Asus CrossHair MoBo
Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS ( Yeah I know i need to upgrade it!)
and a ton of HDD's ranging from 120GB IDE which is running my OS
2 - 350GB Maxtor HDD's SATA
1 - 750GB Seagate SATA (running as E-SATA in a external enclosure)
