frame rate

I know I'm getting a new computer soon (I'm trying to wait as long as possible before Aion comes out, so I can get the best possible, but its hard ), but playing L2 in mass PvP I'm getting like 5-10 FPS, however in other non-populated area I'm getting about 40-60 FPS on max settings.

The weird thing is putting it on lower resolution (1024x768) and low settings does not increase my frame rate at all...I'm wondering why that is, maybe its my CPU?

I've got an AMD 4000X2 2.4GHZ S939
2GB PC3200 DDR
Geforce 7600GT PCI-E
750 GB Seagate Caviar
XP Media SP2

Old drivers of the graphic card? If it isnt that i donīt know what it could be
Cuz if u were running under Vista it could be the RAM, but that isnt ur case

a lower res doesn't save that much preformace. The reason why you won't go higher then like 60 is becouse the game won't allow it.

yeah, why am i going down to 5 fps in ceratin areas with lots of chars. I know its because my computer is outdated, but I'm just wondering if its a certain part, I'm assuming since changing resolution lower, and putting all graphic details on lowest settings does not improve my FPS, that its not GPU related. 2GB of ram seems like it should be fine (although its 4x512, and only DDR1 PC3200).

It should be a graphic card issue, so try updating the drivers, or maybe Lineage in mass PvP needs more power than your 7600GT have (but i doubt it)

You should turn off things like, glow effects, HDR, shadows, reflections, etc etc.
This is what kills your FPS on low end systems, not so much the resolution.

And yes it could be your processor too, probably a mix of both.

(try updating your processor / videocard drivers)

Like i said i turned settings on lowest at 1024X768 and the frame rate did not change. I normally play at 1280x1024 on high settings with reflections and AA off (however I use glow effect A, because turning it on does not lower my framerate). I also use a custom z-tune driver for my video card, because it's made for my specific card, and runs 10% faster and more stable than anything NVIDIA released. Using the latest NVIDIA official driver causes me multiple crashes and BSOD...I would only use the latest NVIDIA drivers if I had a brand new/latest card (9800gtx or GTX260/280, because 9/10 people/teams will release optimized drivers for specific cards that run better than NVIDIA drivers).

All of my drivers are up to date except for my BIOS, but I can't seem to find an update for it anywhere. Mobo: MSI MS-7123, BIOS: Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG (Award BIOS Message W7123MLN V1.3B 111405 MEDIONPC LN), and the video driver ofc...but I know for certain if I updated to the latest NVIDIA driver, my FPS would lower, and I would get BSOD's....(nvidia sucks, and the 7600gt is probably one of the worst cards ever made).

It's your processor... It's everyone's processor when it comes to mass pvp... It rapes processors. What more can I say.

L2 isn't the most optimized game in the world either. A good processor and a good graphics card is what you'd need.

Your framerate can't go higher because the Game doesn't allow more (or your PC is simply to slow to get more FPS). Is it possible the game options got Vsync? If yes uncheck it and as far as i know L2 got a real nice feature with the alt+p hotkey (sets everything to low in a instant). You should also watch out not to Flash your GPU Bios, consider this only if the GPU reseller says so. As for your Motherboard Bios it seems its a Medion PC? If yes, crawl behind your computer case and write down the serial number, put it on the Medion site they will prompt it for you.
