Can't open Aion.

Whenever i try to open Aion from the Ncsoft Launcher, this pops up in a little box,
"Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\NCsoft\Aion\Aion_Main_0.0.0.0To1.0.2.10.ncpa tch' is denied."
I try to Repair but it still pops up when i try to open it....It also gives me the option "View Log". If it's necessary, i will post the log up. What can i do?

Hmm first of all do what Eno says, better get the ticket in asap or else you might end up with no reply before thursday.

On the error, it looks like it's trying to access a patch file and failing. Did you just install the client from scratch, or did you already have it instaleld and has it just been downloading the update that was released just before CBT2?

Probably a good idea to post the NCApplicationLog.log file from the NCsoft/Launcher folder. Also could you go to the Aion folder and see if there's a file in there with the name in the error? If so r-click on it and turn off read-only if it's enabled. Also exit the launcher and r-click on the launcher exe and set it to run as administrator.

After all this try launching Aion again?

I installed it from scratch, downloaded it after CBT2.
I'll edit the first post and the application log.
As for the 2nd option, could you rephrase that cause i'm completely lost... >__>

Ok I've just had a quick look at the Launcher log and it all looks fine up until the error

That looks like a windows permission error to me. I'll try and explain a bit more clearly what you can try. First of all, if the launcher is still running, shut it down completely (File -> Exit).

If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, then open up windows explorer and go to the C: folder on your hard drive, from here navigate to Program Files -> NCsoft -> Launcher

In that folder r-click on NCLauncher.exe and choose Properties.

Now I run XP myself so I can't tell you exactly where, but on one of the tabs in the window that pops up there should be an option to "run application as administrator", turn this on and click OK.

Next restart the launcher by double clicking on the NCLauncher.exe file and try running Aion again and tell me if anything's changed.

No offence intended, but you are using an account with admin priv's to do the install yus?

If the patch file exists in your Aion directory, check to see if its read-only, if it is clear that checkbox and try again.

If you are using Vista, try running it with UAC switched off.

Im using an XP but i can seem to find the "run application as admin." option.
Theres only 5 tabs when i right click it: General, Vision, Compatibility, Digital sig., and summary. Which one!!?

Ok if you're on XP, are you running as Administrator or as a regular user? Also the "run as admin" thing doesn't appear in the properties if you're on XP, so that's fine.

Next thing to do is turn off the read-only on the patch file as Koni said. To do this go to the same path, so C -> Program Files -> NCsoft, but this time open the Aion folder instead. In there should be a file with the same name as the one in the error message, so: Aion_Main_0.0.0.0To1.0.2.10.ncpa tch

r-click on this file and uncheck the box "read only" and press ok.

To check if you're running as Administrator:

Hit the windows start button and go to -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> User Accounts and a window should pop up. In this window check that the account you signed in with when you booted up windows has "administrative privileges".

Ok, here's one last thing you can try, before I run out of options..

It's possible the file is somehow damaged and thus it can't read it, so it's time to fool the launcher into thinkng it doesn't exist so it redownloads it. If you have a bandwidth cap, now would be the time to say so. xD

Normally I advise to just change the file extension, but in this case it might be best if you simply move the entire file outside the Aion folder (since I don't have the file myself, I can't verify the extension if you need to restore it).

To move the file, r-click on the patch file and select Cut. Next, navigate somewhere you can find it again later, like on the desktop, and r-click there and select Paste. The file will take a while to transfer depending on how big it is. When it's done, check that nothing of the file is left in the Aion folder and then start the launcher again. Click on Aion and press Play / Install and see what it does.

PS: This better work, because I'm running short on things that I can suggest without being able to have a look at your PC in person. :/

Well, as long as you can reach the login screen, then you should be able to play, since pretty much no MMO lets you play with a client that isn't fully patched.

If you want to be really really sure though, just run a repair/consistency check. Open the launcher and r-click on Aion -> Repair. If there's any faults or anything left that needs updating, it will do so.

It's only because I practically lived in the LOTRO-EU boards tech support section for about 8 months. And let me tell you, that game has some serious issues! Worst of all, Codemasters barely moderates the boards and the tech support section is pretty much a self-help service. So after 8 months of trying to do what I could there (until I lost interest in the game itself) I've compiled a rather large mental list of tech issues and fixes.
