Can't start Aion/Launcher.

I just downloaded Aion, and when it finished downloading, an error message popped up and it continues to pop up everytime I click Aion or the NCsoft Launcher... The message says:

Hmm ok, that's not anything I've seen before - the error message points to a config file in the Launcher direction, under --> C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Launcher\Config\Default

It's possible an error's crept in there, but the launcher may create a new default file if you remove the old one, so here's what I suggest trying first. Shut down the launcher completely, then go to that directory above and r-click on the NClauncher.config file and rename it to: NClauncher.config.backup

Then restart the launcher and see if it makes a difference.

I did that, and a message comes up, but a diffrent one now.

Ok pity, that means it doesn't automatically make a new file if it can't find the old one. Just r-click on the file again and rename it back to NClauncher.config like before.

Next thing to try is to see if you can run a repair on Aion. It seems like it's an issue with a launcher-file, but as you say it only happened after finishing installing Aion, so it's lilely it got corrupted when the launcher.config file was edited (probably to include some details on Aion).

R-click on the installed version of Aion in the launcher and choose "repair".

I hope it lets you do that at least - else you may be in trouble. :S

Mine does not have "repair" when R-clicking it. =/

Hmm, that's strange. Do you get any r-click window at all or does it just not have the repair option listed? This is what it should look like:

It is possible ofcourse that that's the exact part of the launcher config file that's broken. If it is and you don't get that r-click menu at all, then I have another suggestion for you...

Hm, well I can't get to that screen, or I might be doing it wrong. Im clicking the Icons on my screen called: [Aion]. [NCsoft Launcher] which both give me the message previously said.

Ah ok, I didn't get that part. In that case, here's my suggestion. Go to your Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs and uninstall the NCsoft launcher, but ONLY the NCsoft launcher - so when it asks if you want to uninstall the games themselves just choose no.

Once the NCsoft launcher is fully uninstalled, go to the Program File/NCsoft/Launcher folder and make sure that it is empty, as we want the launcher to completely reinstall with no lingering files from before. Once you've checked that use the same file as before (Aion.exe) to install the NCsoft launcher - once finished it should launch automatically and detect that you've already got Aion installed.

Let me know if it launches. If it does but doesn't show Aion installed, don't worry - there's a simple way to point it to your - still installed - Aion client.

Reinstalling fixed it? Excellent!

Just a teensy case of launcher corruption due to installing Aion then. Thankfully it allows you to reinstall just the launcher, which saves a heck of a lot of downloading.
