To all those asking for assistance, please go to Aionbunny's thread for assistance (and no more PM's please). I will not be updating this thread any further, nor will I assist with any further problems.

If someone wants to take over then fine by me. I am sick of the complaints, and of people b!tching at me because they kept getting an error, and I can't magicly produce a fix.

Someone else compiled this list, but the beta boards keep eating it so I thought I'd drop it here where it will be safe. (as long as Cynic's delete button doesn't get hungry.)

Gameguard Errors

Error 320, 340, 361.
Gameguard errors 361, and 320 should now be gone completely, since GG just finished updating their servers. (8-28-09) 340 should now only show up if you have the problem listed below. This was related to the version of GG in the 1.5 patch being newer than the one on GG's servers. This problem should be fixed as of the time of this update, you should be able to get to the login screen (which looks odd as the name/password lines cross) without any further errors.

Error 110 - This is indicating that NProtect has already been loaded once and is still resident in memory. Please hit CONTROL-SHIFT-ESCAPE to bring up the task manager, click processes, and kill gameguard process. If ending these process does not resolve the error or you have no idea what to kill, please reboot your PC.

Error 112 - Please be sure your PC is free of viruses, and that sufficient memory is available. You may wish to make sure your virus scanning program is up-to-date and functioning properly, and that you do not have too many other open programs.

Error 114 - Unfortunately a specific solution to this error is unavailable. In general, it is indicating that some software on your PC is preventing NProtect from loading. Please verify that you have administrative access to the PC you are using, and that you have shut down all nonessential software. Also, you may wish to end any unnecessary system services or processes if you feel comfortable doing so. You may also wish to try teporarily disabling any virus scanning, firewall, or security software on your PC.

Vista and Win 7 users, make sure to run the launcher as Administrator. (thanks furyia)

New issue with the gameguard update from Closed beta 3. (thanks aionbunny)
It appears that since the update of Gameguard introduced for Closed Beta #3, the Aion installation of Gameguard may now be seen to conflict with other installations of itself. This was seen today with a user who also played Rappelz, which is a game that also uses Gameguard. The user disabled the Rappelz installation of Gameguard and the problem was resolved.

Virtual layering software Thanks to Mac123456
Note that GameGuard error 114 can be caused if you are running virtual layering software such as Altiris Virtualization Agent, something that is coming with more and more HP computers. (Turn off this software to launch the game.)

Error 120 - Your installation of NProtect is either incomplete or damaged. Please delete the GameGuard folder and repatch Aion.

Error 124 - Same as Error 120

Error 141 - Same as Error 120

Error 142 - Same as Error 120

Error 150 - Same as Error 120

Error 153 - Same as Error 120

Error 155 - This error should not occur under Windows XP. If it is encountered, your PC may have a severe virus or be experiencing Operating System / Hard Disk corruption. Please visit Microsoft Corporation for assistance in restoring this file for your particular OS version. If you are unable to restore it, we recommend contacting a qualified PC technician to examine your PC.

Error 170 - Due to a problem with the GameGuard INI, the program was unable to launch. We recommend deleting the GameGuard folder and re-running the Aion patch program again in order to redownload the NProtect files.

Error 340 - This is indicating that the NProtect patches failed to download, either due to an overly restrictive firewall or network issues leading to failed downloads [such as timeouts, corrupted packets, etc.] We recommend checking your firewall settings as well as your current connection stability, and trying again at a later time.

Error 350 - The NProtect patcher was cancelled. Please close Aion and NProtect and load the game anew.

Error 360 - The NProtect patch process failed due to corrupted files, or an overly restrictive firewall. Please be sure to allow NProtect access through your firewall. If the problem persists, delete the GameGuard directory and run Aion patcher again.

Error 361 - Gameguard did not install well. Maybe you cancelled it or something. Either Re-download gameguard or..

Internet>Settings>Network>Check security program on top is working or not.

Also check if you need to get authorized to use the internet.

Error 380 - This is indicating that either there is a problem with your internet connection, security software on your PC is blocking NProtect from accessing its patch server, or the NProtect patch server is temporarily down. You may wish to wait a while and try again, and verify your firewall settings, as well.

If you are using a Router. Configure it to let Aion through.

Error ___ - (No numbers) This means you're lagging or Aion is.

Error 360 - If you already allowed the things and still do not work. Try turning off your anti-virus. It may also be a corrupted file. Just deletle your gameguard folder and re-download.

Other weird errors -

Launcher opens IE and displays either the GameGuard , or Aion Home Page.
Several people who chose to install the full version of 1.5 rather than using the Closed beta to Open Beta updater have been getting IE pop-ups leading to the GG home page, or in some cases to the AIon home page. The game launches and runs fine. Right now I do not know why this is happening, but given on Aug 31st everyone's client will update to 1.5, I expect to see a great deal more of this error.

If you recieve either of the two IE pages above, but still make it to the login screen, you are fine. This is a new "feature" that came with 1.5. Most likely we will be able to disable this, but we will have to do so from within the game.

This Program not available in your country.UPDATED 9-01-2009

This is related to GameGuard not being able to update. To test I blacklisted all Gameguard files and blocked them from connecting to their update servers. I recieved this message each time I tried to start Aion. After which I whitelisted them, and allowed it to update. It ran through and updated like normal, and allowed me to reach the login page.

UPDATE #1

This is NOT the same error as "this GAME is not available in your country". In the title bar the above error reports this error as an "Aion" error. The box appears after both the GG launch box and update box have appeared and disapeared, just before you would recieve the NCSoft splash screen.

Liv made a comment on twitter, stating that NC is still working with Gameguard to have the few outstanding issues resolved ASAP. So for now if the listed fixes don't work, you may have to "wait and see" what NC and GG can come up with.

So for the last time, stop freaking out, it is not an error on our end.

Gameguard Error 124, 153 and IE popup.

This is a new error related to the 1.5 patch. There is nothing to do, as confirmed by painhammer.

MZVKB3.dll related errors and Kaspersky 2009 users.(thanks archez)

mzvkb3.dll is associated with Mozilla Virtual Keyboard which belongs to Kaspersky. It seems GG has a problem with virtual keyboards.
So what we need to do is prevent mzvkb3.dll from loading on startup.

1. Download SysInternal's Autoruns.
2. Unpack the files and launch with autoruns.exe
3. Go to AppInit tab, find the virtual keyboard dll file and untick it. Should look something like this.
4. Reboot computer and launch Aion!


"Cannot display video mode" error -
Either: Reinstall Aion OR Reinstall you entire graphic card.

"Failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D" error -

There are 2 common causes of "Gr2d" dll errors.

a) Gr2D_Dx81.dll
b) "Failed in finding proper screen mode for Gr2D"

Gr2D_Dx81.dll
For Gr2D_Dx81.dll errors, please update your DirectX version to the latest. You can obtain the installation file from this link

To fix this error, please install the video card driver that the manufacturer provides and not the default Microsoft version.

Older graphic cards (Voodoo3, Savage3D, Kyro etc) may experience slowness or graphical glitches. This is to be expected as support for the video card may have ended. The only solution in this case is to upgrade your card.

Laptop Owners
The recommended choice is to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer of your laptop (eg. Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, IBM etc). You may install OEM/3rd party drivers if you are confident in trying them out.

Vista Font Errors

If Aion doesn't launch, (flashes and closes without an error) check the logfile for an error that includes the word "Font". In some very odd cases, the launcher will not launch if Vista is missing the font version "Verdana Regular". I know how it sounds, but older non-updated versions of Vista do not contain this font and the launcher has to have it to launch.

The fix is to download a new Verdana font package and install it.

NVCPL.dll errors and comodo defense with an 8800gt. Thanks to Rej

It appears that when using comodo and 8800gt, Aion might give nvcpl.dll acces denied error on startup.
Possible fix nvcpl.dll acces denied - game works?
1, update the game
2, open comodo - defense+ - advanced - defense+ settings - permanently deactivate defense+ (restart your comp) note: I think that setting it to "inactive" is not enough. You must permanently deactivate it as stated above. Turning off the comodo did not work either (some firewalls remain "partly" on even when u deactivate them)
3, right click ncsoft launcher icon - run as administrator (check)
- protect computer and data against unathorized action from this program( uncheck)


Cannot Connect to the Authorization Servers

If you recieve this error, while other people can connect without a problem, try this fix from Auxsul.
Go to your Aion folder (c:\Program Files\NCsoft\Aion) and open addcache.xml with notepad. You should see something like this:

Open the NC Soft launcher, and right click Aion in the games list. You will need to paste the IP and port into the Extra Command Line Parameters (Advanced)

-ip:216.107.254.111 -port:2106 (This is the correct IP for last beta event)



If all else fails

Go to your C:\program files\NCsoft\launcher directory and find the latest NCApplication.log open it with notepad, and post the last 15-20 lines, making sure to include the last line. Within this mess is the internal error code reported the last time the launcher failed to load. This is absolutely necessary for ANYONE to help you. System specs are nice, but these lines are required. They do not contain anything sensitive about your system, so there is little worry about posting them.

Thank you for this! I couldn't log onto the beta last weekend because I kept getting error 114. It was because of Kaspersky anti-virus BETA for windows 7. Even allowing access to all applications Aion-related did not work. I turned it off & was able to log in! I am now back to using Norton Internet Security 2009 & Aion is working pefectly! I cant wait for July 17!

Yeah, I'm torn with using the hack to disable gameguard that will come out a few hours after release or just not buying the game due to the inevitable hacking issues from not having server side checking.

Just as an addendum to what I said earlier... some virtualization layering software, when used without understanding/knowledge of how it works, can basically be impossible to turn off and maintain previous computer functionality. Basically, if you turn it off, everything ON that layer because effectively disabled.

In my case, it came installed on my HP machine without my knowledge or understanding of how it worked or what it did (and no notice...). Nearly every program I had (including some drivers) was basically installed onto this virtual layer, so I either had to reinstall everything manually, or reinstall my OS and make sure to disable the virtualization layer BEFORE I did anything. I chose the later option to avoid any registry/dll conflicts between reinstalled programs etc.

For many people who use the software and have it configured properly, this won't be an issue. For me, it was.

Just letting anyone know who noticed they have a virtual layer going and are having GameGuard 114 error.

Also, thank you for compiling this post. Information like this will be invaluable when the game launches, because I can promise you TONS of people will have problems with GameGuard.

What is the purpose of GameGuard? Obviously it "Guards your Game" but is it really necessary? Does WoW, WaR, AoC use similar programs that I just didn't notice during install?

Installed the client last night and was having oddness associated with this GameGuard program.. My system definitely doesn't seem to like it that much.

Sorry if these are very basic questions for some of you. However, they are probably questions that an average computer user might have when installing this game.

Gameguard is an anti-cheating program. It is supposed to monitor the game client and prevent people from changing or hacking into it and changing the game.

All MMOs even those you listed have some form of anti-cheating, however NC seems to be in love with gameguard. From what I've read, it is one of if not the worst form of anti-hacking there is. It interferes with legit programs, while failing to keep bot programs from working.

Right now it seems more like something we have to work around rather than with in order to play Aion.

No it's not your fault matey, I wasn't entirely sure where to put my FAQ Guide in the first place lol. I think I decided in the end that more than half of the Installation & Troubleshooting FAQ was explaining things from a "how to" perspective, instead of specific bug solving.

I think this specific Gameguard error guide is a very nice pull together. I certainly didn't cover all the flavours of Gameguard errors in the FAQ, and I think most people would consider these types of errors as "bugs" anyway so this guide is definately in the right place.

To tie the two guides together, I will add a link back from the FAQ to this guide (so people know where to look for the "not so common" Gameguard erors). You may also want to do the same in the opposite direction for non-gameguard installation problems.

I noticed I have a few more points in the FAQ about a couple of the errors, so you might want to add those in here for completeness
