I've seen people talk about similar problems before, but nothing major, this partticular problem that a lot of people seem to be having came with 1.5

And yes I meant the outposts like akairos village and etc, and Sanctuary/Pandemonium (the two major city names). Sorry I was on elyos character so I was testing there.

Turned AA off and Texture quality to Low -> No crashes anymore. I've since then raised Texture quality a bit but got carried away playing so didnt test where the treshold for crashing is.

Running Q6600, 4gigs of ram and Radeon HD 4870 with Vista 64bit Ultimate.

Also noticed that if I do a file check before launching, some of the graphic meshes are damaged and the launcher will load around 140 of them again. However, it does this after every crash so it seems to me that either the files are broken to begin with or the crash breaks them.

Anyway, happily gaming with crappy texture quality atm ^^

I read this post after playing for 3 hours without crashing. I was standing in Verteron and I wanted to make sure I didn't crash so I changed Texture to Low from High...the instant I hit Apply I got the error.

I "think", I found my solution..i turned off weather effects and turned v sync on. I' ve been playing for 2 hours straight, then server lagged and dc'ed pretty much everyone i think. ill let you know if it crashes again and i have my shader on medium.

i can't even play my sin i crash everytime i enter the game in Altgard Fortress, its really annoying

For starters I am glad that we can post bugs here etc and the devs look at it because I have not been able to register in the betaforums on the Aion website.

The situation:
3 computers
2 running vista
1 running XP

1 of the vista computers, the one I am on now, was the worst as far as crashing due to aion.bin/crysystem.dll faults. I've submitted at least 10 crashed in the past 2 days. No complaints because it is part of the testing process.

The other vista computer crashes as well. All submitted results.

The XP computer is Flawless.. Has yet to crash.

Testing:
Vista1: Full graphics: crash (Nvidia 9800GT 1gb)
Vists2: Same : crash (Nvidia 8600 1gb)
XP: Same : doesn't crash (onboard nvidia something)

Move graphics down 1 notch:
V1: Crash
V2: Crash
Xp: No crash, runs flawlessly.

Move down 1 notch and further down to lowest possible.
Same results as above.

Finally I decided that Vista was the problem and not Aion.. Though since I have NEVER had a problem on vista with anything one could say that it is Aion and not vista that has the problem.

Regardless of where the problem is, there is still one that remains.

Currently I am in testing with my computers.. Now I have..
2 XP
1 Vista.

both xp computers run amazingly and the game looks and feels like home.
the vista still crashes. I will be taking that computer back to XP tomorrow.

I love vista, everything about it as I have never had a problem with vista. Until now with Aion. I am not blaming Aion as being the problem I hate to admit that I am blaming Vista on this one. This is the first time that Vista has disappointed me with compatability issues.

Notes to those on vista:
If you are experiencing this try to run things on XP compatability. See if that helps. I'll be trying this on the last vista computer here as well to see if that helps. Submit those reports when you crash under vista. I know it's the same thing, but the more they get the more they can get things right for launch.

Remember always: This is beta, there will be lag, there will be stress tests, there will be crashes and bugs (few now but still some) to be presented to our beloved creators of Aion. Be patient, and submit what is going on. This isn't launch, this is for them as much to test the servers as much as it is for us to test them for them to create an EXCELLENT launch for us.

If you have any doubts just look at the game. It is unbelievable in many aspects of beauty, science, fable, lore, music and otherwise. Being an ex WoW player (short term) and hardcore FFXI player (5years), having beta tested EQ2, Sims2, FFXI, Rubies of Eventide and others.. These people know what they are doing. With that in mind they are still limited to what they know and need us to help push that boundary between the creators and the players to create a fantasy, as it stands, into one ingenious creation of fun, excitement, loss and pain.

In and end note: I tip a cheers to those that have brought Aion to us. I won't get specific because they all take a part in the creation. Thank you for listening to us about lag, bugs and other issues and ACTUALLLY doing something about it QUICKLY!! that alone has earned my devotance to the game which I already love and will continue to play for years to come. If not the only game I will play as far as MMORPG's go.

Just Upgraded to Windows SP2,

playing at everything max settings, including textures and anti-aliasing, no crashes.

I really would like to solve this before release, at least know WHY it's happening aside from a file not being able to load. I would definitely make the changes needed to be able to enjoy the game without this issue and not have to sacrifice my gameplay by turning everything down.

Has anyone actually been able to pinpoint the issue? I really am not technologically able to figure this out, but I would like to find out what is causing this problem. Bad graphics card, poor memory, connection issue, etc.This computer was built for the pure reason of being able to enjoy every aspect of the game without sacrificing gameplay.

I have tried just about everything I could think of, and everything that was suggested to me, I'm desperate to get this figured out.



EDIT: Running Windows 7 32-bit, will be 64-bit soon.

just an update on my end, I lowered the settings as recommended and little to no crashes... also just noticed, oddly SP1 wasn't listed as installed yet along SP2 under vista... I went back in the logs and there appears to be some mix up in the installs when it tried to install SP1 and failed on numerous attempts. I am now going to give SP2 a shot (manually installing), and I'll let you know how it all works out, hopefully this was indeed my own foolish oversite...

Can I ask if any of the people who experience these crashes also happen to use xfire? I turned mine off yesterday and it seemed like it stopped the crashes for me... Now it could be dumb luck but I'll do some more testing, by playing more .

I installed SP1 for Vista 64, was able to play it for a good 5 hours straight on high settings before it finally crashed. It's not perfect, but much much better.
