-Gerenuks use a buzzing sound when alarmed, a whistle when annoyed and a loud bleat when in danger.
-Gerenuk means "Giraffe-necked."
-The young are kept hidden while the female goes back to it every so often to feed it and clean its scent from the area.
-Gerenuks have scent glands on there knees that they use to mark females in there courtship ritual.
-Gerenuks have a special way of reducing food competition. They will stand on there back legs and pull higher branches down. With this method they can reach leaves 6 to 8 feet off the ground.
