Asian Cell-Phones
So now that I'm back from my short break to China. Well... I miss the amount of support the country had for cellphones. It seems to me that America is one of the few places that doesn't like to keep up with technological trends. Hell our internet is slow as balls, when they get 100 mb connection for $50.
Also if anyone plans on buying a top of the line cell. Go buy it in China. a $500 top of the line cell here is 2 years out-dated in China. It will also cost you $500 to buy a top of the line cell in China, which is 2 years ahead. That is if your phone company supports sim cards.
But the problem is... there's hardly any support for any of the features these cell phones have over here. So I bought a new phone there. I went inside a mall, and I got a new message. I checked my phone and I saw a local network page sent to me showing all the deals, discounts, and promotion this mall is having, and featured sales from different stores.
Later while drinking at a club with my friends. Everyone's cellphone had a small message ring. Someone in the club sent a mass message via bluetooth to everyone in the club. The title was Zhang Pa Zi (Chinese actress//celebrity) Naked. Everyone in the club downloaded opened the message, looked through the pictures, and then replied thanks for the pics .etc over the bluetooth network. Worked almost like a chatroom.
So when will America ever get so supportive of new technology? Probably never... or maybe 6 or more years down the line. In America people like to stay home, and play on their computers. They have their own privacy in their little room with their computers. However over there. No one goes home. You get off work, get off class, and you go out with your friends, and you stay out. Go hit the bars and clubs when it's late and then go home to sleep. So their own means of looking for news and staying in touch with instant messengers, e-mails .etc is through their phone. Computer games and such are played at lan centers with friends. And you wonder why their economy is doing so well? Everyone's constantly spending.
Now that I'm back in America... I really miss the lifestyle over there.

china's actually not that far ahead.. i'm not really sure which china you're talking about, but People's Republic of China's network is still 2G I beileve, which happens to be the same technology the most of US is on at the moment. Japan is 3G and they have crap like 1seg which allows you to watch tvs, and are moving on to 4G. south korea is also pretty far ahead, people watching TVs on their cellphones on subways is very commonsight and there's no such thing as 'no reception.' (HSDPA is a given) Of course, you'll have to take the geographical size into account
US is only like... at least three times bigger? And i wouldn't recommend you to buy cellphones from China, since such a laaarge number of them are knockoffs that are made to look exactly the same as well-known foreign brand cellphones (look up Hiphone) or no name brands that use cheaper parts which you'll get the quality you would expect from such a low price...Taiwan on the other hand though, is a different story. |
