MMO Lores - Are you really interested?
Posted 05-03-2009 at 07:22 PM by Hellriser
After surfing the forum and other MMO oriented forums, I found tons of topics that debate the problem of the game lores, what do they mean, is that God really evil or has he a belly ache and all sorts of silly argues and interpretations.
I sit and think to myself how one has such time to waste on something completely useless from my point of view. The lore, in essence, is an excuse for the developers not to say "OK guys, here are the factions, here are the characters and classes, go and whoop your arses!" Because let's face it, beyond the lore you find the same thing in every MMO: classes, skills, towns, mobs, armors, weapons, etc.
Some lores are interesting, but man, make a whole 10 pages topic to debate whether or not the Asmodians or the Elyos are the bad guys? (just giving an example). Go eat a cookie instead... really... do it!
I'm the guy that fast forwards through quest texts faster than RJD2 does scratches. And I bet most of you do. So why bother with the lore so hard?
I really can't see the point of these debates...

I am. But you're not. Don't see much point debating any of it though. It's supposed to be ambiguous.
