Bounty System
Posted 04-02-2008 at 11:57 PM by [PhiberOpticks]
Quote:
Players can place a bounty on people of the opposite faction. The player would be required to pay a fee on top of the reward offered. The target would be notified by an "Anonymous" source in his mailbox. Bounty hunters can accept a limited number of bounties from either bulletins or some form of quest search feature. Then they can receive a notification on the region where the target is located and may carry out the attack.

Level gaps could be addressed with an adjustable bounty fee. If you're at level 50, and you want to put a bounty on a level 1 character, you'd have to pay an extremely large amount of money, whereas, if a level 1 character wants to put a bounty on a level 50 character, it would be much less expensive.Posted 04-03-2008 at 02:28 PM by [PhiberOpticks]

I have to agree with Casket. This really should be a high level or perhaps mid-level feature. I mean do we really want to give a lvl 1 butt monkey PKer the ability to put bounties on people just because they can? It would defeat the purpose. Perhaps something like only lvl 30 or above can participate as either putting bounties on, or being able to have a bounty put on.Posted 04-03-2008 at 04:23 PM by TheSaintACE

That's...not a reason to have something in game. I mean, is a character's ability to kite something meant so he can drag really high mobs into a noob populated area and let it loose for fun? No. Do people do this though? Yes. Do game developers make arrangements so this doesn't destroy other people's fun? Yes. Sending out a bounty on someone just because; makes the game just drama that can ruin other people's fun. Don't do something in a game out of vengeance. It's just not cool. This reminds me of raiding a noob hunting area just so you can camp lvl 1 people's chars and ruin their fun. It's. Not. Cool.Posted 04-03-2008 at 04:37 PM by TheSaintACE

I like TSA's suggestion, make it so only "higher" levels can do it. And with more limited choices, but once they get to 50 they can be more specified in there bounty.
And have all the bounties posted on a central area, so anyone can see the bounty, you can attempt up to three bounties at once, but the first person to get the kill wins.Posted 04-03-2008 at 05:47 PM by Casket

Thank you Casket.
It will be improbably to camp level 1 players in Aion. The only way *per the information we have right now* to get to an opposing faction area is through portals. Each portal is set to appear in the opposite faction area of EQUAL LEVEL. They're already implementing ways to keep people from beating up on the little people's. To say nothing of the 'Hero' features that is supposed to make it to where an alarm sounds when heros of the opposing faction so much as take a step onto the opposite faction soil.
There is no need to make it so that people can cause drama for one another. Game play implementations should be for...just that...GAME PLAY. To enrich the game play. To make things more fun.
Most likely Bounty features would be MORE FEASIBLE in the Abyss...which you have to be HIGHER LEVEL to even enter. It would be a race to kill someone on the battle field if you recognize that they are a person marked for death.
A level 50 person even being able to find a level 1 person to kill them is...highly unlikely. So what would be the point of trying to make that a feature?
And I will say it again. Don't do something in a game as a form of retaliation because you start ridiculous 10 year old drama fest fights.Posted 04-03-2008 at 08:05 PM by TheSaintACE
