Simple change for Chanter Mantras?
I was wondering to myself that because we've heard so much about how mantras seem to be lackluster (but still helpful) at higher levels in Aion, couldn't NCsoft make the stat boosts percentages where applicable? Mantras that would improve speed would obviously be set numbers, while intellect or strength mantras could increase by a value of 10%.
Of course, this could compromise lower level mantras if you don't have a significant amount of "strength" or "intellect" built up, but Aion is focusing on effectiveness of endgame, and I'm sure augmenting the values from mantras wouldn't compromise lower level characters too much. Anyone think this simple fix could work? __________________

This is why after i tried a chanter in Caion after lvl 20 i just quit playing cause in higher lvls if the chantras doesnt give N% boost rather than ex 20+ atack than nobody wants a low buffer char which has absolutly no use yes its a good PvE grinder thats all and lets say a backup cleric.( more like a nurse

By changing the Mantra buff to a percentage, you can give someone a buff that makes a bigger impact on their stats instead of a set value. 40 strength on top of your 300 strength is "ok", while 30% to the strength of that character (+90 strength) is a much more of a significant difference. Of course these values are throw ups, so who knows. __________________

Thanks for linking that, was looking for his blog for a while but forgot the name ^^And Soixxm I don't doubt the effectiveness of chanter buffs, most of them seem like they'd be very significant on a large scale or even in party situations, though I'm only assuming (haven't gotten past level 15 in beta). __________________

I looked through all the translated and original 1.1 and 1.2 patch notes and I can't find anything saying Chants became percent based. Only class changes I really noticed were the changes to duel-wielding, and the changes/added skills when the level cap was raised.
Possibly not in patch notes for whatever reason... |

The majority of chants are NOT percent based in 1.2 and likely never will be as percentages on a large scale like that are a balancing nightmare. NCSoft knows this from experience and will avoid creating such situations without a lot of thought.

I think that makes sense. New items will have crazy stat values, so I guess percentages regarding specific stats could be dangerous. Good point. But I see the point of putting flat values for things such as run speed and such.

I dunno. They need to find a balance, which I really doubt that they will for the moment. They should plan it with what future updates they have for Aion (be it new levels with new content, etc) so that end game doesn't suffer. But that isn't to say leveling should be a pain.
