Unzeal`s Unholy guide for Chanters!
Every information and any help is much considered as great help for me. Since this is my first guide/compendium ever. Keep the information coming and let`s discuss our Chanters here. WORK IN PROGRESS! 18/07/09 UPDATE: Last night somehow i lost all my characters. Trying my best for getting my Chanter to level 25 ASAP! Contents * 1 Introduction * 2 Lore and History - 2.1 Current known lore. * 3 The Basics - 3.1 Benefits of beeing a Chanter - 3.2 Weaknesses of beeing a Chanter - 3.3 Mantras and You - 3.4 Attack rotations * 4 Stats and Stats Mechanics - 4.1 Base Stats * 5 Skill lists and resources - 5.1 Stigma Skills * 6 Equipment -6.1 Introduction to the Chanter Equipment -6.2 Manastone Builds -6.3 Chanters and Crafting -6.3.1 Item Enchantments * 7 Strategies and Tips -7.1 Levling Strategies -7.2 Grinding Strategies -7.3 PvE Strategies + 7.3.1 Healing Strategies -7.4 PvP Strategies + 7.4.1 Strategies Vs. Certain Classes -7.5 Keybindings * 8 Theorycrafting * 9 Current Bugs o 9.1 Skill related bugs o 9.2 Stat related bugs * 10 Media * 11 Links * 12 Credits ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Introduction The purpose of the Compendium I am working alone on this, but take in any valuable information that can make this compendium better. Iam just making this for you(The forum troll) and AionSource. The Chanter Class Taken from AionOnline A good friend of mine once summed up the role of Chanter for me, and for whatever reason, I still remember his words today. It`s about versatility, Sabahla. With one hand, the Chanter will bring down a staff on their enemy, while the other summons a shield to protect a fallen comrade, all the while shouting words of encouragement to the rest of his men.? It wasn?t until two years later that I actually met a Chanter for the first time, and understood how little he was exaggerating. The Chanter?s ethos is one of duty and faith, disciplining his or her body and soul harshly. While their abilities may cross into several more specialised roles, still the chanter has unique skills that any group of adventurers would be grateful for. The Chanter is the Sub-Class from Priest. The Chanter uses healing magic as their main ability but got offensive abilities as well. They also got Mantras too strengthen his/her allies magical/physical and defence abilites. Chanters are able too swith too Mace/Shield for more defence or their sturdy battle staff for more offensive power. They are often found on the fronlines with their allies, healing them as they push forward and giving them enchanted abilities and strengths for a timed limit. But being on the frontline they are also quickly being the target of their enemies, so the Chanter`s allies should be wary whenever an Chanter is being attacked. The Chanter is a viable asset for any group, since they can do moderate damage to an enemy, giving the debuffs so the higher-ups can exploit their weaknesses. Or stand behind, healing the team and provide valuable back-up healing if the Clerics seems to falter or are in danger. The Chanter has also chain armor, giving them more defence than the regular Assassin or Ranger. Chain armor also comes with casting consetration, making it harder to interupt an Chanter`s casting time. Seeing that Chanter can both do moderate damage and heal, they got an high survivability rate while going solo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Lore and History -2.1 Current known lore ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. The Basics -3.1 Benefits of being a Chanter -Above avarage melee dps -Mantras that aides allies in battle -Chain attacks that debuff enemies -3.2 Weaknesses of being a Chanter -Must be in melee to utilize debuffs and stuns -Can only wear Chain-armor -No taunting abilities 3.3 Mantras and You Both Cleric and Chanter is the sub-class of the Priest. But are they alike? No, the Chanter focues on melee combat while giving PBAoE(point-blank area-of-effect)buffs called Mantras, that give both the Chanter and his allies quite the support while fighting. Chanters don`t get just one mantra, but quite several, providing that support your team needs in that kind of danger you are facing. You learn your first when you have done your Ascension. Here are a few basic different mantras, so you can better understand how they work. - Mantras are an instant-cast, maintained ability. That means that they are always on execpt when you cancel it or fall in combat. * As a PBAoE buff, anyone grouped with the chanter will receive their benefits so long as they remain within the mantras radius. When you become a Daeva, you will be given a book that increases your mantra radius with 100% while flying. Making it even better later on. * Mantras are stackable, meaning you can keep more than one of them active at any given time rate. Two Chanters can give two different mantras, providing even more aid too their allies. Mantras: Victory Mantra IV Adrenaline Mantra I Revival Mantra III Clever Mantra III Shield Mantra IV Protection Mantra II Intensity Mantra II Magic Mantra III Celerity Mantra I 3.4 Attack Rotations It seems that you can`t spam skills in this game(Atleast not for Chanters) Therefore, we need an attack rotation. Basicly, you let an Auto-Attack go off right an skill, then use the second skill you prefer. This will maximize your attacks to the fullest, and giving you lesser-downtime. This will change though, during either PvP or PvE. Since PvE you can rely on mobs who does the same all the time(Execpt mobs who uses special skills, knockdowns ect) or in PvP since you never know what the enemy player is cooking up for you. What i mean is, you can`t push 1-AA-2-AA-3 and think repeating this will let you kill everything. Only your own style and experience can make a diffrence in combat. Use the right skills at the right time, timing every move and predict your enemies move. Here is an good example of an Attack Rotation: Condemnation II Heaven's Judgement I Shooting Star Blow I Incandescent Blow I Spell of Revival II (either cast this or let an AA go off) Condemnation II Crush Lock I Resonance Lock I Shooting Star Blow I Incandescent Blow I Iam not saying this is the perfect attack rotation, just an example how it could be. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stats and Stats Mechanics All Priests start with these stats: Starting Stats: Strength : 95 Constitution: 95 Accuracy: 100 Agility: 100 Intellect: 100 Spirit: 110 * 4.1 Base Stats Details for each of the stats: Power: Stamina: Accuracy: Agility: Knowledge: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Skill lists and resources The complete list of all available for Chanter may be found Here The generic Priest skills that you use in the starting area can be found Here * 5.1 Stigma Skills Taken from Wiki General information regarding Stigma can be found At the moment, players can only use Stigmas for their class, for balancing issues. status effects
nice start so far! pretty much all of our dps abilities also have debuff or status effects attatched to them as well, so a bit of added info you might be able to incorporate into your guide would be their effects and uses.
condemnation - slows targets attack speed crush lock - reduces phys def by 5% (worth keeping up at all times) resonance lock - 8 second ground snare our only real snare and on a long 24 second cooldown, timing this in pvp will be the difference in a kill and stories of fish <------this------> big that just got away. it also has a chance to trigger a stronger pure damage ability. shooting starr blow - 4 second flight snare and phys def debuff incandescent blow - phys def debuff pentacle shock - knockdown the phys def debuffs are minor but the snare great vs rdps classes who often take to the air, the knockdown can lead to resonance haze one of our best dps abilities. heavens judgement - chance of short duration stun, usable at range parry strike - long cooldown stun xxx lock - short cooldown racial skill with chance of stun, usable at range all useful for sneaking in a heal or interupting a skill/chain heroic strike - long cooldown knockback on a stunned target, requires stigma. unsure on this one, but the status effect list leads me to believe knockback is a type of knockdown, so could be handy for burst with the combo, parry strike, heroic strike, resonance haze. spell of trap - short duration ranged root with snare, requires stigma of dubious use according to reports from china, seems handy on paper but witholdingcomment until i've tried it out. we also have a few pure dps abilites like resonance haze which deals high damage to a target who has been knocked down, and thunderbolt lock which has a chance to trigger when you use resonance lock hope it helps. Cool... This confirms that my gut feeling on choosing Chanter as my main was correct. With limited play time on my Chanter and only just making my wings before the servers shut down, I have been wondering if I should stick with it and this has helped me to keep going. I was hoping someone would do a compendium on this clever little class. I will be checking this all the time for updates.
Thank you Unzeal. |

Also, I wouldn't list wearing chain as a weakness at all - I would rather see it as strength tbh. Another thing - the stigmas you list are different named then the ones I have from c-aion and listed on the database. Are you taking them from EU/NA information? I haven't actually played my chanter much in the beta so I don't know if there are differences. |

The Stigmas are taken from Wiki. So yeah, EU/NA info. And i rather keep it that untill i get valid info from either c-Aion or EU/NA.
About the Chain-mail. I just needed a third valid point for weakness. Since we can`t use Plate that is. But i agree, wearing chain mail isn`t a weakness, i just rather thought of it a very very lesser one We all want best don`t we?![]() __________________ ![]() My law is born by blood. attack rotations for pve are personal preference, but you should pretty much always be letting an auto attack go off between skill usage until you have enough abilities that you can occupy every cooldown. no point in spamming all of your abilities in 3-5 seconds then only getting 1 attack in the 3 seconds while you wait for the cooldowns when you can spread your abilities out over 8 seconds and get 4 auto attacks in as well.

Nice! Fighting Clerics and other Chanters, at least in level 20, the problem is the mana. While fighting Spiritmasters, forget the pet. And while fighting Rangers don't let them kite you, stun them and get close to them.
I hope this information helps you __________________

Thanks for the info. But iam rather aiming for detailed or end-game pvp. At the lowers levels, it`s mostly gear and what kind of skill you character is having in that moment. Nothing more.
