I think they're just balancing out everything else before they change the buffs that a chanter have. It's probably smarter that way, developers can see what's going on in the higher level (PVP and PVE), what are good buffs to have for those in counters, what will be too OP. That way at least they won't be just giving a skill blindly that'll be either underbuffed or overbuffed for the game as a whole. That's why it's always hardest to balance a buffing class
. If they were to buff chanter now, then realize later it's way too OP and makes every encounter way too easy, it'll be harder for them to nerf them (can you say more QQ on the boards?). I wouldn't get so negative over it already yet, seems like they're really putting in a lot of effort to try to make thise game the best (seeing what they have to compete with out there). No, I highly doubt that. Since there are still so many other aspects to test out, I would have to say from my personal point of view I don't think Aion would go into release anytime soon. Just to make sure everything's right. At the latest I'd think they'd fix it after the last closed beta or in the open beta. Last edited by Shilenne; 04-14-2008 at 01:37 AM.. I was hoping they had a haste buff like prophets had in L2.
This made them pretty decent at melee but still not as great as a glad, or blade dancer. Do they buff sequentially or party style? |

I doubt we have anything to worry about, it will be months before we even get to see the game ourselves and by then if NCSoft hasn't listened to their Testers then I'm more worried about Aion itself and not just the Chanter class.

I dont have a doubt tht NCSoft will fix this issue. Chanters remind me of BRD in FFXI. Their main purpose should be the best buffer and a decent debuffer. Sometimes you have to sacrifice some things. Such as I wouldn't be surprised if Chanters have a much harder chance to kill someone 1v1 PVP. But if you are doing mass PVP, having a chanter in your group might mean a win.

I meant as in able to heal, deal damage and do small buffs atleast. Like master of none, skilled at all. I thought it may be Chanter, but I think I was mistaken.

In relation to the 'Cleric or Chanter' poll, the popularity of the Chanter does make me wonder if optimism and hope aren't rulling the game at the moment[...] Nevertheless, as I said before: I suppose we will find out, and if Chanter does remain quite nerfed then we'll see who has the heart to play it (and the kevlar for eggs thrown). :P

Even after reading the info on chanters I think I'm gonna stick with them for a while. Its hard to say how a class is at such a low level and I'll make the most of it no matter the situation.

I did not choose Chanter with having a killing machine on my mind, I'm not worried by "I can't kill a Templar/Assasin/Gladiator/Ranger/Sorcerer in face-to-face, bu hu-huu!".
Skip the DPS, it should be secondary for a support class. All I want is a clear distinction between Chanter and Cleric - as up to now it seems clerics can buff too and given the info about buffs as such not playing important role in the game Clerics outpotential Chanters by far. No competition between having healing in party - as it's always one of the top priorities - and buffs that aren't essential. If not fixed (I'm quite confident that it will be fixed eventually) this could mean the death of a class. Low lvl's are always tough for buffers, but if the game will not do anything to encourage dd classes to party buffers... wel... it's sick. |

Chanter class is going to be high in demand once they have the buff issues worked out. look at the aura skills. some increase accuracy to the party, some increase attack power, some increase mana regeneration, and some increase defense. raid groups is going to have 4 groups, 6 members each. that's going to be at least 4 chanters for each group to get an aura or 2 ( we don't know yet if the aura's are mutually exclusive to each other). nice. plus, they get a couple of single target buffs. that's better than than an FFXI BRD who's limited to 2 buffs per member.

Just from seeing the other spells I hope the buffs get "buffed" but its also hard to say because we don't know how much the buffs actually effect skills now. Like how much accuracy the hit arua gives, I can't wait till that is common knowledge.
