**** ;_;

They should make ob already, if cb3 is about pvp, the more people join, the more pvp is done.

I can only hope thats the case. Its hard to tell the potential of any class when beta only goes up to what 34 now? with 16 more levels I'd bet chanters will start to stand out a bit more.

If it is anything like what NCSoft did with the prophet (main buffer class) in Lineage 2, ealier lvls they were not really worth much, but at the higher lvls they were a must have.

To me, it looks like what's happening to Guild Wars' Mesmers. They keep nerfing Mesmers because their debuff/preventions seem too strong for PvP. Maybe they don't want chanters to be too strong buff wise. I think people think debuffs/buffs are too strong because they watch a match where one side doesn't have that same "advantage" (if you will) so they claim it's overpowered, when it's just those skills being used correctly =/

Also, nobody should expect a Chanter to match a Warrior, Templar, Assassin or even Ranger in PvP alone, even with their buffs, their value is in group advantage, and they should be able to put in a good contribution, and last a wile, but not be able to overcome strickly offensive classes, otherwise what do those singular oriented professions have to offer? Chanter should be an option that outperforms having nothing but attack professions, instead of exchanging one of those attack professions for a chanter to boost the groups output over a monotinous team.
I agree with you here, they're buffs at the start should not make them more powerful than other classes. Sure their buffs could make them as strong as other classes once they get higher levels of them, though, because they can buff the other classes, making them stronger than the buffed Chanter (not counting the GM buff [I call the +500 stat buff the 'GM buff'])

The focus should be on weak to moderate group buffs, and maybe strong offensive buffs, but not the best defensive buffs.
I think you have this flipped. Chanter should have the offensive buffs, while Cleric should have the defensive ones. Clerics are always about keping the party alive, a strong offense is not their defense =/ Chanters wouldn't be the Jack-of-All-Trades if they were given defensive buffs and minimal healing, they would just be weak x.x

I'm not worried about how we hold up versus a dps in pvp as much as how well chanters could heal. Can any of the CBT2 testers comment on if they think (or know) if a chanter could solo heal a group?

If you want healing, play a cleric. Chanters are not meant to be a healer class; they're a buffer class. And no I have not played any betas, I just know this from paying attention.

OFF TOPIC: Since when have druids ever been like that? Its always been priests. You try playing a resto druid - everyone wants them. Was that when WoW was just starting out? Servers are soooo over-populated with druids now -.-'
Druids became popular after their healing mechanics quite a bit changed. Pre-TBC they were HT tossers, paladins with curse of tongues so to say. LifeBloom changed the whole way of healing for druids. Next boost was Resilience, it works well with druids slower healingstyle and ability to "pre-heal" dmg with hot before damage taken and then keeping safe distance.

from my l2 expirience a party without a warcryer (orc chanter) or a swordsinger/bladedancer (elf/d.elf chars with chants) with only simple buffs would be massacred by another party which included at least a swordsinger or bladedancer... so i cant understand that what kaey is talking about...why shouldnt chanters be welcome in a party ?

As there isn't much info from CB3 we don't know what buffs chanters have gotten this time around. But in previous beta portions they were under powered. Their buffs weren't that good and there wasn't a reason to bring them to a party because another DPS class would do more damage than them. Since the buffs weren't good and their dps was lower they weren't needed in parties.

Hopefully we get some good news soon regarding chanters.

Parties in L2 are useless without buffers, in pvp you need 3, in some cases 4. WoW players arent used to that as there are no true buffing classes in WoW, a warcryer in prophet has basically no offensive capabilities, they just buff and have some CC, but are essential to everyparty. Just because you arent attacking doesnt mean you arent doing something valuable.

I played a captain in LOTRO, pretty much a melee character. Who could support heal & was the main buffing class.

I expect chanter to be pretty similar.

Really was an awsome class to play.

Don't forget the secret weapon behind the Chanter, their +500 stat booster. Lasts 30seconds(?) and doesn't seem to cost a lot of DP, that is a pretty useful asset to a party in a time of need.

Chanter is the most likely similar to the EverQuest Bard

Only that NCSoft probably doesn't want the uberleetness of the overpowered Bard in original EverQuest. Which only increased in superiority with new expansions.

AE Kiting half of Plane of Valor anyone? for mega exp gain?

Yeah.. Basically, every class should be at it's lowest, pure basic form in beta. And slowly increased in their own regards. So you don't get something with a relative strenght of 10 vs someone with 5. Then you need to majorly unbalance that 5 to reach 12 and you have those 7s whining to it.

Nerf bats here we come.
