Sorry if someone has already posted this in here but i feel its only proper to do so. The following statements are straight from Translations that were Placed into the Aionsource Wiki.

-The Chanter is one of the eight advanced character classes of Aion. Their specialty is in healing and fortifying magic, but they can also use a magic staff to great offensive effect. The Chanter uses mantras to strengthen allies and raise their morale.

-The Chanter will be a skill based class, but will be able to cave in heads with a Mace.
Other one-handed weapons are a possibility, but unconfirmed.

-The Chanter will depend on Maces to destroy their enemies. Other one-handed weapons are possible. To be effected, a Chanter will need to stay fully buffed.

-The Chanter's main source of damage will be buffing. Buffing themself as well as party members will increase damage, hp, range, or other things to help wipe out the enemies.

-There is no info on Stigma specifications yet, but Buff duration increase and melee damage increase Stigmas will be the stigmas you will want to work at adding.

Sounds like with the Use of Stigma they will be much like the Paladins in WoW. Only they wont be able to tank.
Seems like they will be an interesting HYBRID class...Yes HYBRID and by looking at thier skills it looks as if they are well balanced between Healing...DPSing...and Buffing.

Still it is too early to tell

I think those who are so Firm in their beleifs of Chanters being a Sideline class that is a BUFFBOT need to think outside of the box. Aion adds many New and also reincorporates many already used (re thought of course) Features into their MMO. we CAN NOT compare it to Lineage just because the its Developers also Developed Lineage. STIGMA adds and interesting aspect of customization. Im not saying that the Chanter will be an All out DPS monster im just saying that it will have more utility than just standing in 1 spot, Healing, Buffing....RINSE WASH and REPEAT.

not a talent tree but a lovely list of spells.. Using the wiki proves quite useful for information of this type.

seeing as these are from CBT1 they arent extremely useful but im more than sure CBT3 will prove most useful in assessing all classes

I can help tanking the same way you can help healing. But for sure people won't ask me to be a support because that's not my function. As a chanter you can help healing and that's more than enough to keep you busy imo. Not to mention that you'll be able to remove debuffs and everything else. Should I mention the fact that by melee attacking you'll pull some agro in mobs, and the Cletic of your party will need to spend extra mana just because you've decided to be a hero? Or should I metion that your mana is already precious for support routines but still, you want to spend it on your attacking skills?

I'm here discussing a class and proving my point. You can keep calling me ignorant and stupid, but that's not the way to go if you want to be heard. If you really need to curse to stand your ground, you kinda pitty me.

it's ok to stand your ground , but let everybody plzy the way they want. it's game , we'll have to pay for it, let's enjoy it our way, i'm a chanter , and i hope that i won't be buffing all the time, i want to help others , otherwise i won't be a chanter , but , i'm not just going to buff and heal , that's not my way

That's the spirit.

So many people want to pigeon-hole Chanter so badly and negate any effective melee ability. I don't understand what is so difficult about the concept of buffing/debuffing/light healing AND spell and melee damage.

Now that CBT3 is underway, would someone with first- or secondhand information share their impressions on the current state of the chanter?

(Most of?) Their buffs last 25 minutes. They have a pretty good DPS as you can see here

Chanters
[Shooting Star Blow], [Condemnation] and [Retribution of Earth] now have individual recharge timers.
[Resonance Haze] has been changed from a chain skill to a requirement activation skill that can be used when the target falls down.
Chain skill levels have been simplified.
Many Mantra skills granting a temporary increase to multiple statistics, such as attack type/ defense type, have been added.
Only two mantras can be maintained at a time. With more than two chanters in a party, up to four can be maintained (two per chanter).
A buff that grants MP recovery during normal attacks has been added.
A debuff preventing the target from using physical skills has been added.

I don't know if you guys noticed this or not, but according to this bolded text, a chanter will apparently have to fight in order to be at maximum effectiveness. I'm thinking parties are going to go with the chanter that can keep buffing continuously, instead of the one that just stands on the side-lines and has to pause to wait for it's mana to recover.
