Bad news
I think these are bad news:
Some CBT info If buffs last 25 minutes, we will have 24 to do a bad heal and bad dps! In pvp people would ask for the buffs and then leave you and want you to heal them. Shouldn'tthe buffs be a little smaller? |

the average length of buffs in mmos is 15 mins, so it may be longer than usual, but we dont really know how long does fights take. im fine with this length, but 30 would be too much.

where did you get chanters do bad DPS? update yourself! :P

I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill, this isn't going to be a bad thing, hell buffs in WoW lasted anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour and that wasn't that bad. Chanters will have a role in parties and PvP other than buffing, though that is going to be their main role, they will be useful and NCsoft has stated that I believe.

Unsure as to why we needed a duplicate thread, but meh.
Time frame doesn't make a huge difference, it's what else they can do in the time between buffs (such as debuffs, backup heals, and light DPS). Good examples would be original Paladin in WoW with 5 min buff timers, yes you still could do other things while keeping them up; or Bard from FFXI (even shorter timer but you still had time to backup heal, debuff, and pull). Nothing wrong with having longer buffs either, it's the lack of being able to do anything but buff that matters. Besides, there's nothing saying we won't have in party only and anyone buffs. The hardcore PVE content will be member capped and if it gets to bad with buffing before you go in, it's very easy to add a mechanic that removes all buffs upon entering an instance. In a PVP environment, it's even easier. And really, good luck with the dual boxing a buffer/healer for pvp. Free kills ^^

Well... you can left a Buffer in the respawn to buff everyone each time they die. That happens when you have long buffs. No fight last longer than 35 minutes, or you die before that time. So a PvP party will be filled with DD/Healing classes instead of wasting 1 slot with a buffer who can just be left sit in the respawn, so, no fun for live buffers.
But... I guess they'll have short buffs which will be good enough for anyone wanting to be in a party with a chanter. They do very good DPS anyway =).

I dont get it, whats wrong with 25min buffs? IMO thats to short, WTB hour+ buffs.

Emm.. I guess the devs are orienting Chanters to be off-DPS rather than off-heal... I guess you saw the video, I only saw the basic Priest heals, and LOTS of melee powerful skills.
About buffs, I don't think it's a long time... It's great, but I'm just worried about things going L2-way. Having a prophet inside the party was something really really strange.

see i knew that the Chanters were going to be something close to a Buff main/DPS hybrid type class. with o.k heals.
(thats what they are looking like now who knows what they will be like down the road) Im liking how the CHanters are looking. seem to have amazing Defense as well. Chanters and Sorcs are looking really good to me. but i WANT the spirit master to be better than what its looking like now. Hoping for more strategic pets. |

Well... I think they'll have some nice skills/buffs that requires them to be in party.
