Video - Chanter solo PvE
most recent chanter vids if found, im unsure how current the 2nd vid is, but the first is from CBT3. The 2nd vid isnt really a good chanter video, it is a chanter but shes just flying around checking things out exploring. The armor the asmo chanter has on in the first vid looks dope. Also the fighting style animations with teh staff looks real pro, very martial artist bowstaff monkish. Its cool, looking foward to playing this class. I didnt realize how melee oriented they were, which is cool for a healer/buffer class. Looks like it takes forever to kill mobs though, and im not sure how much I like the sound of the multi hit on the mob, kinda sounds like someone shooting a machine gun or something.

Not to be a negative nancy here, but I'm pretty sure we all thought that the Chanter was going to be good in PvE.
What I want to see is a video of a Chanter kicking some *** in PvP. Until I see a video of this, I'm going to consider them as a dual box, but nothing more. |

Don't you understand what the "support class" concept means?

Yes, I played a Doom Cryer as my main in Lineage 2 for 2 years. I know all too well the limitations of a straight support class in PvP situations. Everyone is going to want Chanter buffs, but who the hell wants to be nothing more than a guy who casts his buffs and watches other people kill things. We have progressed past these limitations, in my opinion. Disagree with me if you like.

Some people actually like being full support and never attack, stay in the back and help their team mates to win. And Chanters have other things to do, like recharge MP, off-healing, change mantras according the situation, debuff, and, if the time is right, DPS.
But if I was a Chanter I'd rather support the real DPS classes so we win the battle than trying to kill someone. Anyway, they have a pretty good DPS anyway, I guess in small pvp they can kill someone actually. As WC can in L2

The Chanter definitely seems like a heavy support class, but they also seem like they can be useful in solo PvE and possibly PvP as well.
Personally, I enjoy being a support class for my teammates - usually defaulting to a healer or buffer when it comes to picking my class. But I do find myself becoming bored of it at times, and wanting to affect battle in a more direct offensive manner...all too often than not, however, most support classes aren't too viable as a decent DPS class, but from what I've seen and read so far, it seems like the Chanter could very well be the exception. Here's to hoping... |
