Chanter = Shaman?

I've played many classes in WoW, but the one I was fond of the most was an elemental Shaman. Now most people for some reason sucked with ele shamans. But I knew what gear to choose to put my DPS in the top notch level. I was constantly top 5 DPS in raids and I loved it.

I'm wondering if with the stigma system, Chanters will somehow resemble Ele Shamans. Now I'm looking to be a person with Insane DPS, but I'm wondering with all the videos I've seen that Chanters look somewhat weak compared to other classes. So I'm wondering if I should go with a chanter or another major damage dealing class. Anyone who's played a chanter or knows a bit about them care to comment?

I don't think NcSoft wants to let the Chanter have Insane DPS, Massive Skills and Healing abilities.

The shaman in WoW didn't have good buffs and it's healing was average that's why it was given more chance for better damage.(Although you can spec to become pretty much everything with a shaman, which I find lame.)

The chanter is THE buffer. One things for sure, the Chanter is the closest class to a shaman. I wouldn't put all my hopes on the stigma system.

Chanter is more like a red mage from final fantasy xi than a shaman. but a shaman is a uber buffer if you used all your totems you could use instead of not using all the totems then youre a minor buffer worse than a paladin.
Chanter is close combat fighter. they are more like the old priests of old. running with the rest of the warriors and praying middle of a battlefield. while the Cleric is more like a white mage. they are healing the group mostly and staying behind mabye using debuff on the mob in ranged areas.

IMO its like a Shaman (Overlord/Warcryer) from L2. They had masteries for any kind of weapon (including stun skills for blunt weapons), masteries for robes, light and heavy armour. For killing relied on melee, also had a life draining nuke, which is different, and also the Warcryer would buff all nearby party members with each buff casted, the overlord did the same to all nearby clan/alliance members. Both had heals (no resurrection) which were HoT's, and the Overlord had an instant CP heal...Aion doesnt have CP, but it would be the same as a group/clan heal.

Anyway, I don't think that the chanter is specialized enough, even with stigmas, to equal any major damage output. This is coming from someone who is hoping to spec his chanter up into what this site has dubbed a "Battle Chanter".

I sure hope shamans won't be in aion (edit: chanter = shaman that is). the shamans are crazy overpowered with their amazing survivability (at least resto), healing and offensive abilities. chanters are meant as an average healer (superb healer with stigmas?) and buffer and shouldn't be able to have it all i.e crazy DPS.

If you guys were forum savvy in WoW you would see the humor in that statement dealing with Shaman being OP. I don't have an opinion either way, it's just funny.

I don't think you should relate the Chanter to a Shaman...
If you've only played World of Warcraft than you really won't be able to think of an accurate "class match" with this one.
I think the chanter will be very much like an assist in Flyff; massive buffs and some melee damage.
