Chanter Blamed for Wipes?

I was in a group the other day and the Templar I was running with said if there's a Chanter in the group and they wipe, he blames the Chanter for not giving the emergency heal.

So my question is, is this guy a 'tard or is that the general consensus?

Personally, I only feel like we can be responsible to an extent. Sure, we should be ready to off-heal as necessary, and often times it helps tremendously, but if someone is getting raped by 3 or 4 elites and the Cleric can't save you, there's not much a Chanter's heal can do for you. I hope people are aware of that.

they guy's an idiot.
its the temp's job to be pulling mobs that the party can handle, if he gets moe agro then the party can heal him for then its his fault for pulling so many. and if its an accidental agro then theres not much u can do.... he died, who cares lets move on and kill some more mobs.

I thought so too. I was going to say something but I had already decided not to talk in that party because it was full of elitist jerks. I only stayed to farm Krall molars.

I didn't talk for 2 hours. Pretty sure they thought I was a bot.

I would agree that the Templar has no idea what he is talking about. However one thing I have noticed, I have a Chanter and Cleric so I see both sides of this, the Chanter should be spamming his HoT on the Templar and Gladiator since it is more powerful than the Clerics. In many groups that I have played as my Cleric I have virtually never seen this. For the most part I have seen Chanters run to the from and do nothing more than try and tank. When I play as a Chanter I spam my HoT to aid the Cleric. I think in part Chanters are getting a negative rep because there are many that simply don't play the class correctly.

I know people have said this before, but Chanter was a hard class to pull off design-wise and is also very difficult to play to its maximum potential.

However, a Chanter is not responsible for a party wipe. They aid in damage mitigation in several ways, but ultimately, it's the Templar and Cleric who make a mistake if someone dies to a mob the party should have been fine with.

But if you have two Chanters as your healers in a party, please, for the love of god, coordinate. =_= I am willing to do a job I'm less comfortable with as long as we're not both blowing hot air.

You can't completely blame the chanter for a wipe. It's true that we as a support class should be able to read the situation and put out those secondary heals if it's necessary. It IS our job to make sure that the correct mantras are on for the situation, that we DON'T have rage spell on when the group pulled adds and you have to back-up heal, and that we pop our CD's when necessary. We enhance the survivability of the group so in a sense, a wipe is our responsibility too but since when is it the sole responsibility of chanters? If the templar grabs a pull with adds and you guys survive, it's good CC's and heals. If the templar pulls and the group dies...it's the chanter's fault? The guy is a retard through and through. Sounds to me like the templar didn't have enough balls to admit that he doesn't know how to tank multiple mobs.

You should use HoT, but not spam it. It doesn't stack so you're just wasting your MP. Usually by the time the HoT effect wears off (30 sec), the mob is already dead so spamming it is pointless.

I think anyone who has ever grouped in any game in any universe knows it's always the rangers fault even if you don't have a ranger in your group or even if there is no ranger in the game.

Seriously though, who can take this guy seriously when he start placing blame before the fighting even starts. Obviously this guy was simply preparing ahead of time to avoid taking responsibility. That is no kind of leadership. If he is the leader and things go bad then he should take responsibly for the team's failure as the leader. Identify what needs to be changed and change it. Sometimes, rarely, that might mean asking somebody to change what they are doing but most of the time it is a matter of adjusting how much or how fast you pull to match the abilities of the group.

If we succeed, then WE get the credit for it, but if we fail then I should have lead the group differently.

This guy is simply a nyerk and scared that he will fail and so hides from the challenge. What he doesn't realize is that mistakes are always made but failure only happens when you give up. He gave up before the fight even started.

A lucky leader leads a winning team. A great leader leads a losing team to win.
