What are the different types of crafts in this game? I guess we wont be able to see much till we get our hands on a copy..
It looks like to me the Bard class player in FFXI with a little more melee opportunity

I get a buff that afaik has a chance of decreasing the attack speed of whoever hits me, and then there are skills that have bonus effects attached, such as decreasing the p.def or the attack of your target.

There are soulbound items yeah, not all of the "greens" are tho. The item color categorization is white-green-blue-golden.

Do chanters have any HARD "counter class" in group pvp or one on one? Will there be any at higher levels, what do you think?

thanks in advance, again!

EDIT: i almost forgot, could you talk to us about the overall survavility please? ^^
High end pvp scenarios...most likely as second healers. Once people start focusing the party's cleric, you'll have to help him survive and watch for the rest's HP bars, you will only attack when the situation is under control.

I haven't fought any spiritmaster for example, and I think those could give us a hard time due to their different control skills and the pet's damage, however, chanters 1v1 are quite imba, I outhealed almost any char's damage. Rangers could be annoying too, their slow skills are quite good and you'll have to stop to heal every now and then, that is a long battle, but if you get in melee range your stuns will kill it easy.

The survability, it's hard to survive under focus, so you'll have to stay out of trouble and advoid going berserk in massive battles, you are better healing until everything is under control since your damage burst isn't that awesome.

First, Do you post at FoHguild too under Flv?

Second, How was your experience with the skill, "Promise of Wind"? It seems really good on paper and I'm planing to duo with a Templar and wanted to know if its as useful as I think it is.

Third, on the chanter skill wiki it talks about a spell called restoration of mind that is suppose to give you MP over time. But requires an "unspecified" material. Can you buy the reagents from the vendors or is it something you have to find to make the spell work/useful.

I suppose you are talking about the blue Icon?
There is an hp & mp skill wich all classes get at lvl 10 and then again at lvl 20 but gives more hp/mp and it requires a item wich looks like a bag. It costs about 170 qina at lvl 10, can't remember how much it went for at lvl 20 though...

Almost every attack skill you have as a chanter will add a debuff icon to your enemy that lasts for a little.
I can't tell you what each of those does, but it's sure to aid other party members bashing the same monster.

Promise of the Wind is one of the "buffs with attack blade icons" fleiva mentioned...so you have to choose between it and others. The first level of this buff has been reduced to 5% increase for 30 minutes, not the 20% you see in the wiki. At least I think that's right - I don't read korean, but it looks like it may have some cumulative and damage boosting properties...but it definitely doesn't feel like a %20 boost in effectiveness. The base chance of doing double hits is really high as is, so it isn't like you're increasing that chance not creating it.

I guess the point is that the skills on the wiki haven't been updated since there was so much flux in their effects throughout the betas. I think teaming with a templar should work fine. I'd guess your limitation would be in being too defensive minded of a duo, resulting in low dps.

Thanks for the input, Salain. Its unfortunate that promise of the wind is no longer the 20% in the wiki, I hope we get an updated skill list directly from NCsoft soon. We are pretty dead set on chanter/templar and it would be nice to see what we have to work with.

Promise of wind is a self buff which, from time to time, will get you a double attack afaik, it's good for PvE, on PvP I used the other selfbuff instead, the brown icon one, which slows down your enemy attack when they hit you.

That MP recovery skill uses an item that costs 130ish in the grocery store, the MP skill needs 2 of them at first level.

And yeah, im flv ^^

So Promise of Wind is a self buff? Well that is sad as I thought I could cast it on other people, which added to how amazing I thought it was. Oh well, Thanks for the input.

So weapon wielding, is it standard bo staff or 1h mace/shield. Could you dual wield maces?

Seems like everyone is going chain mail for the chanter. What was wrong with the LA (light armor)? Aside from the low defense.

Armor advantages what did you look for?

These questions are mostly based off the idea for a chanter in RvR/PvP.

basicaly, I was sure the chain was giving me more defence while I wasn't too sure about the light bonuses due to it being in korean, so I went with chain.

Im looking forward to a high attk speed set though, mixed with crit, so maybe I'll probably go with light once the game is in english.

You've touched on healing a few times, so I'm wondering what the capabilities of Chanters are versus clerics in that area? 1/2? 2/3? 3/4? Or what? If you wanted to do harder group content, is cleric + chanter required? Just cleric? Two clerics? Could two Chanters do the job? How about just one uber one that has the right gear/stigmas? That's PvE, so how about PvP? Would the "control" offered by a chanter be better in PvP "healing" since you're preventing more of the damage?

At level 25...2/3. We have a spammable 500HP heal while they have a trully powerfull (with moderate cooldown) 1000+HP heal.

I would pick chanter+cleric over 2 clerics cause of the versatility and to advoid redundant work, buffs+decent damage+possible healer when things go wrong>possible good healer when things go wrong+moderate damage.

If you ask me about chanters and armor, I think chainmail will always be the better option, for a couple of reasons.
First of all, basically all your attacks are melee and you're going to draw a lot of hate even if you're spending a lot of time healing. You'd think leather is a good idea for the dodge it provides, but thing is for chanters that we don't have much affinity with dodge like assassins. Instead, we even get a buff for "parry" or "weapon block" if you will. It reduces the damage by a lot, and with that buff and some enchantments, you'll parry often! Chainmail with the best defence possible will reduce the block damage further.

If you ask about how you should mix chanters and clerics in a party, it depends on what situation. How many people pr. healer? Are you killing a high level boss, going to the abyss, or doing lesser dangerous things? If you won't take heavy damage, 2 extra auras are always going to be better. That is, if you can find enough chanters who'd like to be healers hehe.
