Thanks for posting these. I'm working on getting the Chinese version running, but was worried about communication with other players. I'm currently taking Japanese as an elective... now I'm wishing I'd picked Chinese instead.

Woo, these are getting hard! I'm not sure about the terminologies like "tank" in Chinese. Kinda difficult as I play with the English language pack and don't really hang out with Chinese people. I'll see what I can find out...

Hello my friends, Palapala and Hengyu,
This is a very good thread. Maybe we can discuss and come up with terms that makes sense in Chinese? ![]() Tank -> 顶 撑. This is my choice for tanking and it makes sense because a tank is supposed to endure attacks and resist them standing upright; he is essentially propping up the whole party in the face of enemy attacks? LOL. I think Chinese players would understand its meaning in context when a templar uses? "please mark the monsters which you would like me to tank" ---> "请在我该顶撑的怪兽上个符号!" sleep/crowd control - I thin this is very difficult. A direct translation for crowd control 控群 may not make much sense to a Chinese player when there is only one target! "群?什么情群?前面只有一只呀!" LOL ![]() I suggest we use simple terms that can convey the right meaning. Make it sleep ---> "弄睡它!" stop it from moving ----> "停住它!" freeze it ------> "冻结它" Have a great day to the both of you and all viewers of this good thread. ![]() |

In my case I would just scream "挡啊!!!" if I wanted someone to tank a monster. xD Oh yeah. Seems no one seemed to have posted this, I shall, to clarify some doubts. 战士 (literally Warrior) - Warrior 侦查者 (literally Scout/Spy) - Scout 法师 (literally Wizard/Mage/Sorcerer) - Mage 祭司 (literally Priest) - Priest 剑星 (literally Sword Star) - Gladiator 守护星 (literally Defending Star) - Templar 弓星 (literally Bow Star) - Ranger 杀星 (literally Kill Star, LOL) - Assassin 魔道星 (literally Magic Star) - Sorcerer 精灵星 (literally Spirit Star) - Spiritmaster 治愈星 (literally Healing Star) - Cleric 护法星 (literally Protective-Magic Star) - Chanter Last edited by hengyu; 04-25-2009 at 04:54 AM..
