Make sure you are running the launcher as Admin if you are using vista. A friend of mine spent an hour messing with his firewall and router and all he had to do was run it as admin.

FINALY! this is posible solutions from NCsoft (i had to do all of them) after i went back in to startup and checked for Norton 360 and it still opens fine so it is some kinda windows crash.. anyway here goes.


Thank you for contacting NCsoft Technical Support.

Typically, GameGuard errors are the result of a conflict between GameGuard and an installed security application on the PC. As a troubleshooting step, please disable all startup items to make sure that no background programs or processes are causing a conflict. To do this, please follow these instructions:

1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.

2. Type "MSCONFIG" without the quotes, and click "OK". This should open the System Configuration Utility.

3. Go to the "Startup" tab and click the "Disable All" button.

4. Next go to "Services" tab and check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" check box, then click the "Disable All" button.

5. Once these items are all disabled, click the "OK" button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

Be sure to disable the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. This has been one of the biggest problems with customers playing the game on Windows Vista. To do this go to START > Control Panel > Firewall (Not Security Center) turn Firewall to 'Off'.

Then open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button > All Programs > Windows Defender > Tools > Options > Administrator options and scroll down to "Use Windows Defender" and un-check the box. Then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Try the game again and see if that corrects the problem. If that does not correct the issue then try going to START > Control Panel > User Accounts. Once there you will find an entry for 'User Account Controls'. Disable this and reboot the system. Then try the game again.

Can't wait to try what Skoll suggested tonight... really late though, stuck at work working on this Domino 7 to Exchange 2007 migration that starts next monday and finally was able to migrate 1 mailbox, hopefully I'll be able to play Aion this weekend to "remove some stress"

Comodo firewall and error code 114

This is for you Comodo firewall people.

NProtect is acting like a rootkit. And as you know Comodo is an anti rootkit tool. To get past the error code 114 you have to disable your D+. To do that you need to,

To deactivate the D+ permanently

1 - Goto "Defense+->Advanced->Defense+ Settings"
2 - Select "Deactivate the D+ permanently" checkbox
3 - Press Apply and restart your PC

this absolutely fixed the issue for me. please note to all of you...this is the ONLY way i got past the error 114. if you don't have comodo please search the forums for whatever firewall provider you use. also note. disabling of firewall DID NOT work for COMODO. only this fix method works as reported from their tech support.

Running Vista and had the same issue with the Gameguard Error: 114.

Deleting the Gameguard folder did not work for me, nor did disabling my firewall(s).

What did work for me was:

This: Support | NCsoft

Then This: Support | NCsoft

Yeahhh... I had to completely uninstall Comodo. Didn't know about disabling Defense+, I didn't even have the program running... xD

I use COMODO and did not have to disable D+ to get it to work. I simply added GameGuard.des, GameMon.des, and Aion.bin as trusted processes in the configuration and it worked fine.
