Gameguard error 114.

I suddenly got this error playing lastnight, it happened after i 'rebooted' my pc when comodo firewall finished an update before that ive had 0 problems playing the game with everything running (firewall etc) so its a bit strange this suddenly happened.

AV: AVG

Firewall: Comodo

OS: Vista 32 bit home


Ive tried the following with no result.


1. disabled firewall

2. disabled comodo and ran windows firewall instead

3. disabled antivirus

4. ended processes in task manager under my username (except for explorer and ofc task manager)

5. rebooted

6. installed cc cleaner and ran it

7. UNINSTALLED aion and reinstalled it.

8. deleted gameguard folder in aion and reinstalled a fresh copy

9. ran as admin

10. checked exceptions list in firewall
All of the above failed and im pretty much clueless as to what it could be



Update: Just tried deleting the gameguard folder once more.......and it worked =/ that was VERY strange indeed.

Nice that it worked out for, I myself didn't have that problem when i was playing the chinese beta but all of a sudden now i have it

I'm about to go crazy over this error 114

So I've tried everything posted by Gutz

I have turned off the Windows Firewall service
I have completely uninstalled my AV
Ended every task running under my name
Deleted the gameguard folder
Ran CCleaner
Ran Spysweeper
Reinstalled Aion
My account is in the local administrator group
Added my computer to the DMZ on my router
Forwarded port 1 to 65535 to my computer

Update : Tried connecting Internet directly to my computer didn't change anything


Running Vista 32 bit Ultimate SP1

If anyone has any pointers I would gladly try anything, starting to fear that I won't be able to get it to work by Friday

Having same issue....

Tried all the norm things and many listed....only thing I can't try is delete the gameguard folder cause I can't find the damn thing. Any ideas?

I just found something out, 2 new entries were added to my host file

76.107.169.97 l2authd.lineage2.com
216.107.250.194 nProtect.lineage2.com

I can ping the first one, but can't ping the second one...

I'll try quoting them and reinstall GG, see what turns out


Update :

Ok quoting the entries in the host file doesn't do much, the entries doesn't get reinserted.

Strange thing is if I nslookup the 2 entries, I get different IPs, probably different DNS names registered, shouldn't change anything though.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like it's a connection to GG server issue.

Just out of curiosity, my ISP is Videotron, DNS servers 24.200.241.37, 24.201.245.77, 24.200.243.189

The updater is telling me I donot have the newest DriectX installed. Now City of Heroes works fine and my install manager says I have the newest directx. Could this be effecting the GG and Aion?

On a sad but happy note, I'm glad not to be the only one with the issue. Makes it something on NCSoft's end and not ours.

maybe its because the beta is starting soon? because it seems everyone is all of a sudden getting it before beta

According to what I read, Aion doesn't support Directx 10 yet, so you have to be sure to have Directx 9.0c installed

Nope DirectX doesn't change anything, which was kind of obvious, knowing error 114 means

NPGAMEMON_ERROR_INIT 114 // GameMon Initialize Error

So again it feels like my computer isn't able to reach GG server...

Can anyone who is able to get by Gameguard do a quick lookup for me?

In a command prompt,

Type "nslookup l2authd.lineage2.com" without quotation mark
Copy and paste the result
Type "nslookup nProtect.lineage2.com" without the quotation mark
Copy and paste the result

Type "ping l2authd.lineage2.com" without the quotation mark
Copy and paste the result
Type "ping nprotect.lineage2.com" without the quotation mark
Copy and paste the result

I'm trying to dig into this ping issue that I don't quite understand.

Im usin' Zonealarm, and i suspect the Truevector program in zone alarm may be the cause.
What firewall are ya'all usin'?

my next suspicion woud be that Gameguard server tries to send my computer information on korean(?) Which isn't installed on my computer, so therefor i might crash or something?
Woud explain the wicked text in the 114 error.
