Lineage 3 Leak Codes

to summarize, remember when staff members of lineage 3 left ncsoft and they got caught for steal codes?

well.. results are in today. According to trial results. 5 people get convicted, the three people in prison,

two people were sentenced to fines. one admited it that he leaked the codes to Square enix in japan (WTF!!!!!!??)

so code was actually leaked to two company. bluehole studio(tera) and square enix

kinda shocked that they sold code to square enix. is that mean ff 14 or upcoming mmorpg will have lineage 3 code??

Why on earth would Square Enix want Lineage code for FFXIV? The FF online games have almost nothing in common with Lineage.

Anyway, this FFXIV project has been in development for like 5 or 6 years already. They are always very hush hush on their games and hold back a lot of info. It was code named Rapture and the Crystal Tools that were being developed for use by multiple games have been in development for many years and are being used with FFXIV.

The heart of the matter though is...

Codes for an anticipated MMORPG game were stolen from NCSoft and leaked to Square Enix.

Whether it has anything to do with FFXIV is all speculation, but it's still a vexing issue.

If they use the code in anyway I could see NCSoft suing them.

They dont have to use the code, they could see how NCsoft is coding Lineage 3 to cope with stress for the servers (eg how can ncsoft have 300+ people on the server without lag) and "mimic" it, not copy it, mimic it so it does the same thing in a different way, that way SE is not "stealing" or "using" the code. The only way to stop this would be to have SE not make any more MMO's which would be a HUGE blow to SE. I most probably see SE settling with NCsoft for an unspecified amount, and returning all L3 code it has, and maybe even allowing ncsoft to check out ff14 code to see if they stole anything or not.
