Been playing FF6

Got it on my DS a year ago, but I never got around to it, really. I've been playing it a lot more lately, and it's a blast. I can see how this one is a favorite among most fans. My only problem with the game is the horrible directions and guidance. Everything done has to be 100% figured out by you. Also, way too many characters. I'm fine with like 6 or 8, but there's like 12 in this game. The temptation to try them all is too great. Right now I'm getting all my characters back in the World of Ruin. I got most of them, and i've been using a guide to kill the dragons and do extras, etc.

Discuss?

But on a FF6 note, FF6 does have the greatest FF story which is why alot of fans (myself included) rate it as the best FF (disregarding the 16bit graphics

Although I was always a Phantasy Star fan instead of a Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest fan in the 8 and 16 bit generations, I always had an interest in FF6. I only ever played a few minutes of it though.

Is it the one with Kefka and the spoony bard?

FF6 was compelling, merciless, and epic. The characters all had great stories and you connected with their reason for fighting. Kefka wasn't some menacing villain with uncanny fighting ability and a 30' sword, but just a maniacal mastermind who lead through manipulation, fear, and a no mercy policy. Parts of that story line still give me chills. I firmly believe if that had been the first PS Final Fantasy, it would have received as much recognition as VII. Great game, enjoy it.

And your edit note -- Chrono Trigger - possibly the only RPG to top FF6 in my books.

Personally I hate Chrono Trigger. It just felt underdeveloped, to me. I'd rather play Earthbound or Lufia 2 for a SNES RPG.

This game reminds me of why I love Final Fantasy so damn much. I haven't played a decent one in years (yes, I'm a 12 hater). Hey Taiyz, do you happen to know who composed the music for 6? I don't think it was Nobuo. Maybe Takehiko.

It is Nobuo.. he did then all up to FFX I think. I don't think he did X-2 or XII.

I don't know who Kefka really is, never played ANY FF, but that actor just pwns. His laugh is... of a real villain.

Pure classic. 6 is literally THE reason why I started playing FF's in the first place. 6 and 7 are easily the best in the series. I'm happy to have seen my favorites of all time mentioned in this thread.

and now I'm mentioning Secret of Mana.
