I've tried this in real life before. Doesn't work too well. It goes something like this for about a third of people:

Them: Oh wow, that sounds pretty good! ...wait a minute...
Me: What?
Them: That means the gameplay must suck...
Me: What? No, that's not true... they said they would do a, b and c.
Them: /losing interest rapidly, kind of heard a, maybe b, completely missed c.
Me: /nuuuuuuu ;_;

See? It's a trap!

It's supposed to be general, and sweeping, and they're supposed to look at it to prove it. It's a curiosity tactic. And it always works. If you brag "Best looking blah ever", they have to say "Oh yeah!? *Has to find out*" Then they'll look and realize it is. What'll they do, lol, turn away and not try to find out? Only a 5% chance of that happening. That's why this move is so simple, yet it would have worked easily.

Midgar, just because the advertisement says "It's the best evar" doesn't mean anything, it doesn't make me curious and it doesn't convince me.

I can confirm this. My RL-Friend said the same thing and added "Until I can't get more info's about the gameplay I'll stay at Warhammer Online. There you can see much more about gameplay than in Aion. Also Gameplay > Graphics".

Thanks Haubix. See, this is exactly what happens. When you start making sweeping statements like that, what happens is people enter like defensive mode or something ( because they don't like to loose? ) and pretty much start shutting out whatever you say and counter your unreasonable sweeping statement with an equally unreasonable response.

Which is why after showing some pictures to prove the heading true, a video of starts full of Aion gameplay. And yes, Gameplay > Graphics, sadly, most people who call themselves gamers these days prefer it the other way around, which is why they'd sort of be... tempted... challenged?... to see the video.

Probably just you. "best thing evar" doesn't make sense. Typing "Most Beautiful MMORPG Ever Made" is different.

Eh? I was using "Best thing evar" as an example, might as well have said "Most Beautiful MMORPG Ever Made". Point is that it's obvious that when ppl advertise something they obviously say it's good, ever seen an advertisement saying "Most suckiest game ever, yeah!" ? Nah unlikely.

All the games and MMO's go on the lines of "Take part in Groundbreaking bla bla bla..", Who are they to judge if their MMO is the "Most beautiful MMO ever made", or the best? That's something they say to make ppl think just that, it doesn't really make it anything special by saying that.

It's probably that. Younger crowds tend to be more accepting of just about anything they are told. It's hard to believe, but those 4 years make a difference. In fact, I'd say it's college that makes the difference.

College students don't want to listen to your sweeping generalizations. We're used to everything coming with a string. Plus, sweeping generalizations are easily proven false, which isn't what might not turn a person off from believing what you want them to believe, but hurts your credibility. Finally, it's only recently where promotional game images have been even remotely close to actually representing actual realtime gameplay rendering. You can bring your screenshots and movies if you want, but we are all secretly expecting actual gameplay to look about half as good.

Long story short, back away from the superlatives.

... *Sigh*... it's not me, because I'm pro-gameplay. I don't "buy" anything. It's just the way most people are these days. I'm not asking it to be "something you say to make people think that", Aion is proof, not opinion. It's like saying Crysis is the most graphically advanced video game ever made. It is. Denying it is retarded. Once you go from proof, it then leads to interest/ becoming an Aion fan.

Okay. I'll ask you. Aion is the most beautiful MMORPG, in terms of graphics, right? Then you look at all previous tries. You take a look at Aion's engine and what the game can look like. That's when it becomes a fact, and not an opinion, correct? That's how a fact is defined. This is because they aren't going to say "Nu-uh, blah looks better", because, "blah" does not look better. "Blah" looks worse. If you believe an MMO looks better than Aion, you are either lying or un-informed. Of course, no company puts your needs before their own needs, otherwise they wouldn't be a good company. But they also need selling points. Aion's first and most powerful selling point is it's fantastic looks and next-gen (current-gen) engine.

Now... what happens when you've proven this fact? You rein-force it. You show screenshots, then you show videos to help even more. It's so simple. And yes, it can actually work this easily. This is because human's, more particularly, the majority of gamers, are easily persuasive now. See, this is another fact, not an opinion. Most of them have also become graphic *****s, I've said numerous times. So, what do you think a game with the most beautiful graphics of it's genre will do to a graphic *****? Why, it will strike their interest, riiiiight? Yep. This is when they will feel the need to find out more than just the game's graphics, such as it's game play and music. Well, that's pretty easy as well. You direct them to aionsource.com.
