The reason why AIs suck right now is that they are incapable of developing models of your model of them. They cannot adapt.

Nobody said the soldier wasn't wrong and nobody said the soldier shouldn't have been punished. People just said they had no right to involve innocents.

Well ok Ifs are important just in this situation I don't see it viable since the if is out of consideration. Nothing happened to him, even though something might happen to him in the future this issue has been long forgotten ages ago.

True I suppose I didn't consider the fact that not just he would get flamed, the people living with him would too. Hmm dunno, honestly I still wouldn't have seen it that bad. Hopefully it taught him a lesson and he won't do it again

Someone needs to take a chill pill honestly. He wasn't pointing fingers at Japanese what so ever and like another person said along this post (I think it was Howling?) Politics gets into everything. Hell politics got into Aion because the government is dealing with botters....

Nothing did happen, thankfully enough. But the problem is that the people who threatened him probably never considered how he or his family would react. They just assumed that they would get their fun, scare his family and teach him a lesson as righteous crusaders or justice or something. Furthermore, they probably assumed nobody would do anything about it. But this is the wrong type of thinking. This is the type of thinking that gets people in seriously deep **** and can get people killed. Just look at all those school shootings. All the cool kids pick on some loner, never considering the consequences, the ifs. And then their surprised when their guts are freshly painted over half a bookshelf in the school library and it finally, finally hits them: "what if I hadn't picked on him so much..." Too late for ifs now huh?

Don't bother. I'm pretty sure I got the wrong person since I can't find the paper when I searched Marshal McLuhan on wikipedia. Plus iirc, his writing style is thick as molasses and takes forever to trudge through.

The idea of the paper was... okay, this is really, really hard to describe. Just think of it like a chess game where you want to stay two moves ahead of your opponent. Your current decision given the current game state is to reach a future game state, but because your opponent moves inbetween, you need to attempt to trick him into entering a certain transition game state inbetween so you may achieve your desired end game state. So your current move is designed not for maximum immediate benefit, but to bait your opponent into entering the desired transition game state. Except you apply it with social interactions. Your current decision is based off how you think your partner will react, and how you think your partner will react is based off what you think your partner's model of you is and so on. And all this is important because you want to attain a certain future state ( e.g. you don't want to **** your partner off so you want to say something nice but you know your partner doesn't like shallow compliments and you also know your partner thinks you don't give many compliments and will get suspicious so instead, you say something else ). Its needlessly convoluted to describe.
