Are Clerics Soloable?

Not possible for me not being a Cleric, since I play MMOS always found more challenging to be the healer Ragnarok Online (priest), FFXI (White Mage) and Holy priest in WoW, I love when people recognize u as a good healer, is really satisfying, so being Cleric is a must for me once more :>

Priority is being always useful as a support class and always welcome in parties but I hope we have decent solo skills ( Im sure we will) just like WoW or so, less dps and and a bit more rest than other classes, slow killing but Im fine with it as long as you can get a good dps partner and go for better exp :> or just party.

I think those who normally play healers can agree to the following.

1) We know our role in a party. Heal bot. I get it, I'm not trying to DPS against ZERGMONSTERXDRAGONJABBERWOKI the raid boss, or his adds, or whatever. IHEALU.

2) We should be able to effectively solo out on the main map against regular enemies. Will we take them down like the DPS classes? No, duh. But between our buffs, heals, smites, and melee we should be able to solo reasonably well to allow us the CHOICE of playstyles at any given moment.

That is all I ask.

So far I'm doing well soloing as you can see from the screenshots I posted. There's a pretty neat combo I use which inflict heavy damage and has the chance to stun my target. Add to that my heal over time spell and it's smooth. At later levels I hear grouping is preferred though. Which is a good thing and it applies to everyone.

Were you able to try out staves in addition to maces in the beta? Is the staff more for healing in a group?

Healers can wield a mace so i'm sure they can solo

I'm pretty sure clerics can solo, they even have an entire offensive system in place. If you've watched cleric videos, some of them showed them conjuring a shard-like object that floats mid-air. That's actually a ward, or turret if you will, that shoots white lightning (or something along those lines) for attacking. So with that and the defensive spells that they have, they will kill stuff, if slower than a gladiator or assassin. They'll probably add some undead or demon mobs that'll be more susceptible to priest attacks I guess.

As said before I think that the cleric should be able to solo but not as fast as the melee DD classes. Soloing with a cleric should be one of the safer routes. You might take longer to kill things but the risk of you dieing is much less than someone squishy like a sorc.

Soloing at the beginning is somewhat of a must for me so I can learn the basic mechanics and my own limits.

Ultimately, I wonder which class will provide the inevitable farming build. Though everyone raises their chin when someone starts to talk about farming builds, we all know that they'll show up anyway.

On the other hand, maybe NCsoft balanced it so well that there are no possibilities to create a farming build. (yay)

i would like to see the cleric if not able to do some high damage on a melee class than on a caster one,sorry guys for comparing aion with another mmo but in lineage2 the bishop was able to teleport the summon into another dimension and so the summoner had to summon again... wouldn't that be a solution to the clerics ,,problem" ?


*note that i dont wanna see aion become another l2 and everyone knows the reason why
