Are Clerics Soloable?

ok guys first thing is first it is a Pay to Play MMO Why on earth would you want to PAY A SUBSCRIPTION FEE TO PLAY A SINGLE PLAYER GAME AS A SUPPORT CLASS!
MASSIVE MULTI meaning a buttload of people playing in a social environment im sure there are some loner emo kids that just arent understood enough and just want to be alone but they will probably play some class that gets razor blades or can self inflict damage while they sit and spam the cry emote.

Healer/Buffers/Tanks in any mmo have the ability to do the go find NPC_____ or gather me 10 "enter generic material here" and kill the easy mobs to get those The instance dungeons the small to large group raids and the MASS PVP is the appeal of this game THIS IS NOT A SINGLE PLAYER GAME you pay the subscription to be a party of a group. If your a healer find a clan and party all day every day end of story. Let everyone else level and farm for you as long as you keep them alive most of the time

I am sure they wont make them Purely dependable on otehr classes until later in the game then other classes will be dependable on them

I do not think you described a cleric's role. It sounded more of a trophy wife(healer) gold digging off of her rich husband(guild/clan/legion).

As you said we pay to play a game. We can play the game anyway we want to since we are paying for it. If you want us clerics to play your ideal way then pay for our subscriptions and we will party with you/your clan/guild/legion all day/everyday as a healer. Just because a class excels at support doesn't mean that class is has to join up with others all the time. If that were the case then clerics would not have damage dealing capabilities and would be a pure healer with no skills that caused damage.

I doubt people will want to do everything for a person in a game. Seriously you have to get off of your mom's *** and do stuff on your own whether that is farming, completing quest, pvp, or crafting stuff. At times I get tired of partying with people and want to just relax and solo for a bit. Sometimes soloing makes a quest/mission much easier than having to deal with someone else.

Everyone has their preferred way of playing.

im not saying healer are gold digger im saying in a MMO game soloing should be the last thing on someones mind any length into the game. IMO all classes will be soloable until later in the game where stronger bosses later game dungeon runs mass pvp its just the mechanics of a good game. Im sure later in teh game you could spend a painful amount of time to level just by my experience. If it is your preference to play solo then you will find a way IMO pick a class that is soloable not one which is clasically and primarily a support role. As you said to each is own so if you want to solo I dont see any way that any class would not be able to i just believe that the content which will be provided to you for your monthly fee would be better accessed in mainly party. If you are a support class such as a healer then you will most likely have groups. A clan/guild/legion will need and pick up healers random parties will pick up healers but if it is your prefernce then play solo.

Honestly, the only reason I'd play a support character like a Cleric would be to be on demand. To be wanted unlike the heaps of dps out there.

But, I must say that healers, while not doing massive amounts of damage and wearing light armor, can heal themselves. They have survivability.

I see your point now. It was better explained here(besides the minor grammar mistakes). I do plan to party A LOT as a cleric. I just want some flexibility. I know I can easily get a party but I also want the ability to solo when I want to. I do not mean soloing a raid boss or w/e. I mean soloing as doing a quest, farming, or pvp. sometimes I feel impatient and just want to get the w/e i am doing done already so I go off on my own.

o_O Last I remember we pay subscription fees for updates, bug fixes, new content, balance, seasonal events, bandwidth, server maintenance.... The list goes on I'm sure, but you don't really pay to be in a party.. Some MMOs, especially older ones you cannot play without parties.(Not well anyway)
However that in no way means your money is going towards that...

Anyway.. My Cleric will be soloable because I'll be following around my boyfriends Gladiator 24/7. ^_^<3

I personally believe they /should/ be soloable, but kill slowly, that way it gives added incentive for Cleric's to party. But if it's 2 in the morning and no ones around, you can maybe grind out half your exp bar.

In my oppinion any class is soloable. A cleric is no different. Granted an Assassin will be able to grind mobs alot quicker then any class excluding the ranger probably.But Assassins and Rangers are dps, where clerics are healers. Most games have clerics in plate with a shield and a 2h blunt object. Its best too look at yourself as a tank with healing abilities. Provided NC gives the cleric an undead specific damaging spell grinding on undead mobs would be cake.

There are times when u want to solo and there are times when u want to party... I think that this class should be flexible enough to do both... don't want a OP healing class like in AoC but don't want a shabby healing class which can't do dmg at all.... if they should make it extremes then they should make it spec dependent (I understand this game has talents and so on) so if u want to go soloing u can spec X and if u want to party u can spec Y..

I have to read up a bit more b4 saying anymore about talents/feats/whatever...

yeah i would have to go with Myth on this one
cause their are times im on at 2 aclock in the morning and cant find anyone on so if i have to depend upon others to do anything that would just be silly i wouldnt have any fun
but if i could just tweak acouple of things and at least do some moderate soloing that would be great untill i could find a party

but if i had the choise i would always party cause its usually way more entertaining lol

GW monk does holy dmg.....i would do 50 armor ignnoring dmg with SoJ ( lol ) on reguler person...but i would do 150 dmg ( WOW ) on undead
but yea sometimes i just wana solo......

I would assume that every class should be able to solo if played right, well at least I hope so. While I wouldn't expect a cleric to be as efficient at it as lets say an assassin, my guess would be that they would still be able to. That being said, I'm glad I'm rolling with a friend...should make things go much more smoothly.

I agree with what most of you have said here as well. While a good healer will shine during group play, even for us healers, there isn't always a group available and for those times, the ability to solo comes in handy so you aren't sitting there bored.

I am still up in the air myself as to whether or not I am going to play a Cleric in Aion or not. I have played a healing role in just about every MMO I have played (and that is a TON) so I am thinking of going a little different route for once and go sorcerer. Now I just gotta wait until Aion finally gets released

maan everyone has these friends to roll with when the game comes out so the can farm and stuff...i need friends XD
yeah like if we did bonus damage against undead (or something) so we could even just farm large groups of even one kind of monster i would be happy with that lol
