I am not going cleric but reading all the threads and post here gives me great respect to the healing community. They seem to be a tight nit group willing to share there knowledge unlike the rest of the classes. As a Gladiator I know my role, To be beside the Templar for support DPS, But you can be assured I will be keeping one eye open for any danger that threatens the healers and mages. And that will override anything else. G/L Hope to see you all ingame.

I'm glad that this thread is started up again, I was wondering where all the activity went all of a sudden.
I find it funny sometimes people like to blame on others even though they are wrong and not look at themselves and ask, "What did I do wrong?" While it's easy to blame others or it could be that the whole group was setup for failure, so why not approach the problem in another way, but we still go do the same thing over and over again until one just finally gives up and leaves. Some people are so concerned with statics things like cookie-cutter builds, that we don't really use our mind to try new things or come with new ideas to play our classes in another way, but the game itself just basically give us so much freedom to do whatever. While I know the roles of my class decently, sometimes even knowing what you're doing is not enough to prevent another who don't do the roles of his/her class effectively to compromise the group or yourself. So playing a healer class is defiantly one of the more stressful jobs in MMOs, you have worry about everyone while keeping yourself alive and to deal with drama, criticism and unreasonable people. /rant off __________________ ![]() Made by Kitten! |

[My feeling on the subject are that when Aion does come out in the Eu and US many people will go for offensive characters tinking thell lvl quicker and in most cases YES. BUT the thing is clerics will be in the the higher levels because with this rush of people on DPS they will eventually need healing and so the humble cleric (that one who nobody exept a few took) steps in to help heal and get a tonne of xp they will level quicker than the counterparts of the same level as them and eventually the cleric will have an easy run to max lvl cause ull have so many people at ur lvl ull always have someone to train/leach with, so this is my over veiw of why clerics will make up 3/5 of the top characters on the world of aetria^^ Moofy out

I wouldn't call it leeching, that makes us sound like parasites who don't do anything but latch on and suck the experience from the other players. I can assure you, we aren't just sitting back doing nothing, even though we aren't on the front lines of battle. Whether you meant it that way or not, I'm just commenting on my take of it. |

Drop Moofy please. Anyways, yeah in regards to a previous poster - it does tick me off when I'm blamed for the mob agroo-ing on me, or other things. Healing is a intricate field and things are going to happen and it will not ALWAYS be our fault, most of the time it ends up being other classes doing bad pulls, or critting to much :S __________________ ![]() |

This is nothing new, but I was wondering, on a scale of 1 - 10, what is everyone's standing with multitasking? Might sound like a silly question for some, but since we're support heavy, so how does everyone react to certain situations while underfire, be it yelling from other people, healing priorities, who to save and when to lend a hand disrupting / support with your defensive skills for your group against the enemy.
I'll start off first, I'll put myself at a 4 as I can do it, but I easily get distracted by other things, and it's hard to handle multiple things going off your screen at once, I also get the occasional tunnel vision effect. I tend to work better while under directions, but it's straining on other people as they need to focus on their role while trying to compensate for mines. It's ever-learning process for me, I can perform exceptional sometimes, but there are just those moments when you could've done better because of your skills or just something that keeps you down. But I like situations with you having to do quick thinking as it can improve your over-all role as support with better judgement, and really makes you stand out more for other people to think about inviting you again for groups or other things of the sort. __________________ ![]() Made by Kitten! |

I believe I am around a 6 or 7 there, but that is where I'd rate in EQ, since I know my class and my capabilities in that game. I've had to do some fancy footwork, and multitasking for me was pretty common in that game. I would probably be much lower in other games though, at least until I learned my way around. Although I can, I would much rather focus on healing, than see how well I can multitask. |

I'd say I'm a 9
I'm always yelling at people in vent to do stuff during a mass pvp, healing, letting people die who are under fire and wont run back, then rezzing them rather than spam half my MP healing them, telling the second healer in my party to res when my res reuse timer isnt up, etc... Guys..you simply have to understand that cleric in aion is not like cleric in Lineage..he has also very good offensive skills,so he wont only heal but also do nice amount of damage...

I use to play a White Mage in Final Fantasy XI, the typical party formation was Healer, Tank, Buffer/Back Up Healer, and 3x Damage Dealers or some variation there of. I've been in some pretty crazy parties, but what stands out the most to me is MP management. You have to be able to use the most efficient spells in terms of HP regeneration, MP cost and Enmity generation. If you use the highest tier spell when it isn't absolutely needed you are wasting MP and causing significant down time for the party, but conversely using a spell that is too weak can potentially kill the group. It's all about timing, Tank always has priority on healing, which should be a given, but there are times when an AoE will wipe down everyone's HP so be very judicious with AoE heal spells because they typically generate a lot of enmity.
But things change in a PvP environment. When I played WoW as a Damage Dealer, I learned quickly that taking down the healer first is an absolute must. For the most part a human player isn't gonna be taunted by a tank, they are gonna smear that squishy really quick. So for PvP I'd recommend stacking as much defense as possible and fighting along side the Tank and Damage Dealers, rather than standing in the back being an easy target. __________________ ![]() Happy Apples are happy.

Lets not forget that sometimes players are stupid and they will continue attacking a damage dealer or tank, when the healer is at max distance for healing. I've seen this so many times in Lineage 2 and WoW.
I hope though that the players on Aion will have a higher IQ then that of a packet of potato chips! |
