I'm so glad that crafting is going to be a big deal in-game. It gives meaning to private shops because you can create your own recipes and make some pretty awesome stuff once you lvl your crafts high enough. Coming from SoR myself gives me the backbone to understanding what I hope will be a very extensive crafting system.

One (the only?) thing I liked about Star Wars Galaxies was the complexity of resources. Basically, all resources were divided in a tree of categories and subcategories. Recipes would sometimes need a particular resource (say Iron) or maybe just a ferrous metal or maybe even just a metal. So you could choose which of your resources you would use to fulfill a particular requirement of a recipe. Also, the rarity/value of the resource chosen might affect the success rate.

It might just be me, but half the guide is basically unreadable do to the text color.

First time looking it looked extremely short and incomplete : / then I outlined some of the text and noticed that there was a bit more as the page scrolled down.

Anyways, This offered a lot of answers about gathering.. thx for that. Now I have endless questions concerning actual crafting, guide coming soon?

Good article, i've learned some things i didn't know before.

But like Firael said, i had to outlined some of the text
for it to be readable.

A guide on crafting would be of great help,

I hope a crafting guide comes out soon. Also do we have any information on how creative we can get with crafting. I have always enjoyed crafting and gathering and I am excited to hear more.

Hi has anybody noticed that if you gather an item as soon as you have finished the last gather sequence, that sometimes it fails instantly???? (it annoys the hell outta me..lol Jumping everytime b4 clicking again). And is it a major enough bug to get fixed or is it staying to give chars a chance to fight over a node.... just askin cos i noticed it a lot in the chinese beta / release, and also in the closed EU betas

Same thing happened to me. I'm not sure if this is intended or a bug, but it shouldn't be too hard to get used to waiting a second after each gathering attempt (unless some nyerk runs up to jack your stuff..).

As far as I can tell, the reason for this is that inputting ANY command while in the middle of something, like gathering, cancels the current action. So, when you're already gathering from your first click and you click it again cuz the box hasn't popped up yet or whatever... Also, what the article failed to mention is that every resource node seems to have a random number of gather attempts available to it. From what I observed on the OBT the number doesn't appear to be set, and failures do indeed count against that number as well
