level 30 food and level 30 manastones as this is my current bracket in cooking and character level: sushi= 30 MAcc and 30 MBoost =6 MAcc stones (+5MAcc each) and slightly under 2 MBoost stones (+16MBoost each) sandwich = 30 MBoost and 120 MP = slightly under 2 MBoost stones (+16MBoost each) and 3 +MP stones (+40 MP each) steak = 6 PhysAtk and 120 HP = 3 PhysAtk stones (2 atk each) and 3 +Hp stones (+40 HP each) Because no one really buys food it is pretty cheap. Yea its temporary but you only need to pop it when you are doing some serious questing/grinding.. Also note the small stat differences between a green crafted item and a blue one... For example: (level 28 armor so fitting with the level 30 examples above) Aion Armory Item Physical Def 107 Magic Resist 43 Evasion 59 Magic Boost +10 Maximum MP +43 Aion Armory Item Physical Def 115 Magic Resist 46 Evasion 63 Magic Boost +14 Maximum MP +58 The difference: Physical Def 8 Magic Resist 3 Evasion 4 Mboost 4 MP 15 and one manastone socket (which is the biggest benefit IMO....) Food is a great, cheap way to buff up your player. People have the mentality that its crappy, and thus it feels crappy. BUT when you look at the other ways to improve your stats, I think it stacks up nicely. *I'm pretty tired and I'm not in game, but hopefully all my numblers are correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong.* Last edited by Zoia; 10-05-2009 at 11:26 PM.. |

I think the biggest reason people are so down on cooking (and this is just my opinion; rip me to shreds, as I'm sure you will) is WoW. Cooking in WoW was effing amazing and the stats you got from food buffs were worth purchasing food or leveling cooking. Food was REQUIRED for most raiding guilds. I think compared to the food buffs in WoW, the food in Aion seems weak to most people. But it isn't; it scales quite nicely with the rest of the stats in game and can really supplement players.
Just my two cents. __________________ Hey you with the pretty face, welcome to the human race. |

Food in FFXI, now we're talking. A real profession on par with the others. |

I find people who don't use food to just be silly. It's incredibly cheap and gives you bonuses. You're going to complain over bonuses? It's a simple concept... you either have bonuses (food) or you don't (no food). I would personally like to have something over nothing.

Everyone saying the sushi is useless, or unnoticable is insane. +30 Macc is the difference between your CC spell landing on an elite and saving your char/group, or not landing and having a wipe with all it's associated costs. The 30MBoost is a nice little bonus, but the MAcc is the equiv of me slotting 3 more Macc stones on my SM.

So food buffs are very similar to Chanter buffs, which are very well regarded. I think it's interesting that people complain about food but then talk about how great Chanter buffs are-- that Bacora Sushis is IDENTICAL to Magic Mantra II, and it stacks.
Regardless, if you're grinding without an appropriate food/drink, you're doing it wrong. Even the very first food is worthwhile-- 4 damage is 4 manastones of equivalent level. To those saying 30MA and 30MB is useless, that's a 3% reduced chance to resist for your target and a 2.5% increase to damage. That's amazing for food that costs you a couple hundred kinah a stack. |

But it does have a very clear advantage - if you are cooking for your legion (which I and a small team are doing), you only have to make one type of Sushi and can distribute it to any spellcaster in your legion, not just those who are L30. The stat benefit of Esosa Sushi on a L32 sorceror is great, but its frickin' marvellous for your friends who are trying to catch up to your higher level players.Implemented well, cooking is a good way to boost your legion as a whole. I doubt you'll ever make money out of it in the early days, though. |
