What I'm curious to know is how the gathering will work for these professions. I know that in WoW you have individual profs for getting the actual ore for crafting, will weapon/armorsmiths have built in skills to let them "harvest" from nodes, or is Aion not doing the gathering thing at all I wonder?

It isn't like WoW. You can harvest materials even if you don't have any crafting profession.
You get the "harvest" skill at level 1 and you have to continuously gather materials because the requirement to harvest increases very fast.

At the moment you have to take extra time to increase your "harvest" skill because in the next area the points required to havest are significant higher.

Oh that's cool. I wasn't sure at first whether or not I want to get a crafting profession in Aion. Right now in WoW, even though there are some nice perks for picking up some profs, overall I don't feel as if the investment of time and resources is worth skilling up the prof. I think if I had to go back and do it all over again, I'd probably just get the gathering professions and make a ton of money selling the mats and occasionally tip people to craft me things using my mats.

I wonder, if the things that are craftable that are about an 8 on a scale of 1-10 are bind on equip, is it worth it to get a prof, or is it best to just skill up gathering as you go along?

I'm pretty sure that crafted items are worth alot. Especially within endgame

crafted item SHOULD be worth alot imo.. as far as i know, it's the best way of making good money in Aion (taken from what i've experienced in the korean beta/retail)

I just LOVE resource gathering and crafting stuff!! It has always been one of my favorite hobbies in MMO`s
I`m so glad it seems the tradeskills will be good and fun in Aion too!

Oh yeah, one more thing I would like to ask btw!
Anyone here knows any specific recipies for crafting anything? What ingredients, how many etc.
If you have pictures of it too, would be great! I really can`t wait to see exactly what items you can make, hehe!

Poison!?

As far as I read, Assassins will use poisons, but so far I haven't seen them listed on any craft list.
Are those poisons just NPC bought, also crafted or actually just incl. in the "buff"?

I just hope the crafting system is not as bad as L2. Spell recipe failure and losing rare ingredients sux. Also killing monsters so often to get rare ingredient sux. I would suggest if they keep recipe failure in the game, that rare/super rare ingredients are returned after failure. Hunting up common/uncommon ingredient again is not as frustrating.

Imagine you are a Sorcerer and your profession will be Weaponsmithing. Now you can create the best sword on the server but it's bind-on-create. Unfortunately as a Sorcerer you can't wear swords and therefore it's useless to create such a bind-on-create sword.

Again: It's not known yet, if all created high-end items are bind-on-create.
As reference: In WoW there are specific items/item-sets for tailoring (e.g.) which are bind-on-create.

Wow bind on create is such a dumb idea. Bind on wear I can understand. You should be able to give/sell the stuff that you make. Imagine you are the only sorceror in clan to have super high weaponsmithing skill to make an epic sword. And then after you make it you im others: I can't give the Uber Sword to our best warrior, it's stuck to me! Talk about epic FAIL!

Great information to read. I want crafted items to mean something, but do NOT feel they should be the best in the game. That should be left to a reward via pvp or pve.

Glad to hear about it being an 8. Hoping its, 8 - crafted, 9 - PvP, and 10 for Raid PvE, most games hold to that but drop it on the crafting.

Nice post glad to see they will be special crafting trees with special classes. Would like to see a little added bonus into gathering though. Kinda makes it easy for bot/farmers to come in a take over a game economy if the farming is way too difficult to get materials for.

hetyu if you go asmo, then in pandemonium, temple of artisans.
There are different rooms for every proffession.
you can learn all 6. kinda expensive to lvl them tho. I'd say choose 3 profs. max.

To those asking, you can be any profession you want, but you can only take 1 profession to 400, If you wanted everything else to be at 399, so be it.
