I don't know much about this kinda thing, but i know sony are tryin to match PC'S, by making gameplay much better. I hope they are a success, as they do have access to alot of good games and does have enough potential. I personally think it could out-run most other consoles for quite a while, but they havn't really got started. BUT as the price is still to high, and paying for extra downloadable content is not really appealing to myself i will wait a few years until i make the decision to buy one.
If aion was to come to a console, make it ps3. I think the WII is kinda ridiculous, and the xbox360 is quite good, but i am not sure if it's quite good enough. I love microsoft and sony.THEY BRINGS GOOD TO THE WORLD ![]() SONY are the way forward....lol... [EDIT] I dislike nintendo consoles alot, but the DS is the best handheld console, I love it(only have a few games for it though) Last edited by Selene; 07-12-2007 at 08:49 PM.. |

Easy console haters... >.>
I've done some reading on both xbox and Ps3 while deciding which one would suit me best. In the end I am going for a Ps3. Here are the reasons, this time around Sony built the machine for online play from the ground up, instead of adding online capability as a last minute thought. From what I've read of their online service and interface it's better then xbox and only going to get better with being able to download and buy mmo's, ps1, ps2 games ect.. However ps3 has less memory and uses more power, but it has the cool rpg's I love for me that's a small price to pay. Okay so with the blu ray it's not such a small price after all, but I'm confident that this console will age very well. And I'm not buying into the Wii at all, it's a flippin' remote; woo hoo... ^^; Then again I never liked nintendo much. My point is that I think this is great news for playstation fans/owners, mmo's can be played on consoles well and my bet is that we will see a lot more online games available for consoles, it's the future baby. 8) |

actually, there is no evidence whatsoever that the PS3 has better longevity than the 360. a decent amount of developers actually prefer to program on the 360 because of the higher memory and more powerful processors (less of them, but a LOT more power per processor). xbox live is by far the best online service at this point if only because there is much more content available.
really, i like both systems, and i think they both have their strong points. to me it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to make a game exclusively for either one. you're losing millions of potential customers that way. as for rpg's... ps3 may have final fantasy... but don't count out the xbox, mass effect, lost odyssey, blue dragon, revenant, fable2... that's nothing to sneeze at. and if revenant (made by square-enix) sells well we could see a port of final fantasy to the 360. ![]() ps3 needs more killer games before i shell out my 500 bucks ![]() __________________ Live and die with grace. |

. Xbox360 had some nice launch titles, and was cheaper(some in quality as well >_>) than the PS3, however since Microsoft has purchased some "PS3 exclusive" licenses, I'm sure that PlayNC will eventually come out and say "Oh yeah, were also puttin this on the 360", this of course after any action for the PS3. It will be an interesting development to say the least.__________________

Look at it this way: is it easier to develop an MMO for PCs where you have to deal with varying hardware configurations, varying OS patch levels, varying driver levels, and an environment where the majority of players have the capability to 'perform evil' in the OS where the game must run... or is it easier to develop for a console where the platform is relatively static, relatively closed, and the amount of people with the ability to 'hack' is orders of magnitude lower? Console-only MMOs are a nirvana for developers and will increasingly be so given that consoles only increase in capability with each generation. Don't think that in another 5 years when the next round of consoles start to become the hot topic that they won't all be able to effortlessly push around 1920x1080 pixels with obscene levels of FSAA, anisoptropic filtering, HDR, and whatever else gets invented between now and then. The most limiting factor of consoles has been the amount of RAM they possess. The latest generation is better but still not optimal, in my own personal opinion. Someone can always put forth the argument that PCs will forever be superior to consoles but is that really true? I see every successive generation of console hardware as another nail in the coffin of PC gaming. Don't get me wrong - I'm a die-hard PC fan but to build a PC that's superior to a console, you actually have to sink a significant amount of change into it, moreso than if you actually just bought the console. This gives consoles greater appeal to someone who is mainly after a gaming machine. I also see consoles versus PCs as a separation of church and state - if you start breaking gaming away from PCs and relegate it to consoles at a point when consoles can push photo-realistic quality at 60fps @ 1920x1080p, the price of PCs will drop greatly as well. You don't need that $5000 dream PC anymore if you're just using it for Word, Excel, Linux, or most other common projects. I fear for the future of PC gaming. The PC world's saving grace right now is the maturity of the x86 platform, everyone's familiarity with it, some phenomenal programming APIs, and some equally amazing IDEs (integrated development environments) which greatly reduce the software development lifecycle. |

It's safe to say that nearly all games in the future will be online (setting RPG's aside, but even then...we have MMO's). Seems like any game that comes out that doesn't support online play gets all sorts of a "WHAT?? No online play?! What is this, 1990?" response, thus degrading the quality of said game...

agreeing with Marks first post, Xbox is a much more suitable platform for mmos, ps3 imo will be out of business and Xbox will rule the world of gaming
and about the "Anyhow, who the hell plays MMOs on consoles anyway?" post by Mark, I used to think the exact same as you until recently, i read someone say "I cant wait to play MMOs on the comfort of my own couch" and that really got me thinking... i get really stiff playing for hours at end on my pc chair even with me getting up every hour to strech its still not very comfortable however playing on your couch with your legs up will be much better imo... if only they could make it so that you have your keyboard and xbox control put together... yes i do have a wireless mouse and keyboard but seriously if i jump onto my couch and try balancing my keyboard and mouse on my leg/couch isnt very easy :P __________________ |

AION on PS3 (maybe)
I've done some research on FF11. It seems that FF11 on PS2 is exactly the same except we could conclude its being play on low settings. Plus it has a few more glitches and stuff. But PS2 owners play with PC users.
I have heard some ridiculous comments about how it would suck on PS3! How could it suck if it would be the same thing? I'm positive the graphics would be either at medium settings compared to PC or even at high. That is pretty much the only difference. The only negative thing I see is not being able to use ventrillo... maybe u can use it? I don't know. I would like some people too tell me other negative aspects regarding features(loading times for dungeons or anything bad)! I don't care for flaming or "because it is Sony". That is childish and unnecessary. I would really appreciate this. so that I can make my choice of either getting a better PC or a PS3. Thanks and have a good day. I will be responding to your posts so be active :P |
