I wouldn't count on Aion coming to console anytime soon. NC generally concentrate on PC customers as it is where their fanbase is...if you call it a fanbase.

I don't have any problem with PS3 users playing Aion on their shiny, overpriced machines (Had to sneak a nasty adjective in). I would still prefer it PC only though.

If you meet someone in game and you maybe want them to add you to xfire or whatever and they are like "Sorry i don't have xfire, meet me on 'Home'...".

/ignore would then be my next text input.

Isn't Xfire a website like myspace or something(but for gamers)? I'm assuming it reads how many hours or certain games u play and other features like that... sure I understand that. But that is very shallow to say the least... How is it over priced? Tell me how I can get a computer that is 700$ that can run star craft 2 ! lease because I want to play starcraft 2!!! *cries*

You can get a nice system for 800 bucks. If you go to dell.ca you can get the whole set for about 1.200$. Sure you might run Aion on medium but I'm positive you would be able to run starcraft2.

Sure the Ps3 is less expensive than a computer but with a cpu you can do so much more. Oh and I have seen alot of people buy new TV's with HD for there Ps3, talk about expensive.

Well my dad already has a HDTV, I can plug my PS3 in it... but the guy watches to much TV lol so that would be no use. As for Plasma06... that wasn't even a valid point... The PS3 may suck but use your brain please. NCsoft has signed a contract and it is possible to have AION on PS3. That comment was useless, and those were the comments I was hoping to avoid.

YAKUZAN!! wow well it is awesome to have a fellow Montreal person in the forums ... Is there anymore Montreal-ers lol?

Yea even if it is coming to a console, it wont be the same release date as the PC version. Plus its always more fun to play MMOs on your PC

lol I figured. Thats what happened to FF11... I think it took like 2 years after the PC release to get it on PS2. I could probably get a good $1000 (CDN) PC to run Aion at medium capacity. Technology prices get cheap quick so I'm not that worried. I was looking at the prices at dell and I would be better off getting Alien ware.

Note that this reply isn't directed solely at the quoted individual - I just don't like making multiple posts.

As a long-time player of FFXI on the PC with friends who played on the PS2, I can tell you that the PC experience is incredibly limited by the PS2. Square-Enix has stated time and again that such is the case. The only way to make FFXI look halfway decent by standards from two years ago on the PC is to make changes to the Windows registry (mip mapping changes and resolution changes that result in super-sampling which is, in effect, pseudo-anti-aliasing). There is much more that Square-Enix could do with FFXI if they abandoned the PS2. The PS2 is the reason there is so much re-use of models and textures and has been named by Square-Enix in a recent interview as the reason they have been unable to introduce any new races.

As for consoles being able to play on the same servers as PCs, there's no reason PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, PCs, cell phones, and any other device with network connectivity that you can think of can't share the same servers. There's nothing unique about the servers - the only thing that matters is the protocol shared between the client and server. The client could look totally different from one system to the next but they could all share the same server provided they talked the same protocol. The perfect example is that, on the PC, you can switch existing armor models with others provided that you know what data files to replace. That makes the PC experience look different from the PS2 and Xbox but doesn't change anything else.

That said, there's no technical reason that Aion couldn't make an appearance on the PS3. There might be political reasons or financial reasons but nothing technologically preventing them from building an Aion client for PS3. The protocol is the only important piece of the puzzle. Like FFXI, however, the PC experience would eventually become limited by the PS3 (5 years to a console is an eternity in PC technology) and it would be up to NCSoft to determine how divergent they wanted the two experiences to become.

That was a great post. I see what you mean. Thanks for making it clear to me. Besides I think can get a good PC rig for a good price. Besides Aion won't come out for a good while and PC's will be even cheaper .

But Seeing as it may limit the game... and Sony did say their would be exclusive titles NCsoft will probably make new titles and not AION...

Xfire is an IM system that logs when you are playing games basically.

For what a PS3 offers, it's price is significantly over what it's worth.

I use a PC for more than just playing games so i find that it is worth the money.

Buying a PC just for the pure fact of playing Starcraft 2 isn't really sensible unless you are particularly rich or spoilt.

I personally use a PC for things like. Univeristy work, 3D Modelling, Ordering items, Ebay, Email my folks that live abroad, VOIP, Music composition, Video editting aswell as gaming.

Now if a PS3 can do all that at the sort of quality and useability of a PC and be cheaper. Then i would love to hear about it.

I have nothing against PS3 in its quality and potential. For now though it's just not worth it.
