Is WoW grinding hard??!

I've been reading some other threads on Aions leveling system, and I've read that people are sayin the grinding in Aion will be like WoW's grinding. But they're making it sound like good news! Is it just me, or was grinding in WoW tedious and (yawn) oh so boring?? Here I was getting worked up about a game with less grinding, and now I hear its like WoW in terms of grinding. So my question to you is, is WoW grinding hard?? Or am I just a noob with a short attention span? I played WoW for a year and my account spawned numerous level 10s, a level 16, a level 31, and a level 48. So is it just me...or do others think WoW grinding was difficult?

is this a serious post?

when you mean grinding, are you talking about straight up mob grinding or questing grinding, instance grinding? thers all sorts of grinding you can do in WoW and theres probably only one or two ways to do it right.

after this noob patch they just put in they made it even easier.

WoW is easy, you're just a noob, delete this post.

you have to understand that before world of warcraft, supposedly the best MMORPG ever made, most MMORPG's required that you invest a large amount of time to reach end game content. When blizzard made WoW they had the casual player in mind and made it so that it was easy to hit end game.

What they didnt realize was that they made it easy for the hardcore players to reach end game content and become bored very quickly, even some casual players like yourself never reached end game content and quit claiming it was to time consuming. which it is. for people like you.

They set a standard for all MMORPG's to come in its wake. If you look at any MMO comming out next year, Age of Conan, Warhammer, even Lord of the Rings (lolotr) you'll see that there almost exact carbon copies of World or Warcraft but with their own unique features.

The thing that made WoW easy, that was never done before WELL in other MMO's was the questing system.
Previously most MMO's reuiqured intense mob grinding/xping and very few quests that offered enough XP for you to actually gain a level. Blizzard focused more on solo content with the casual player in mind, offering tons of quests to reward you with enough XP to grant you you're top level.

In truth any MMO will require loads of amounts of time to achieve an "epic" or "final" level, I dont think theres any possible way that you can have a good "casual players based MMO" and achieve this. This is even true with any single player RPG.

There will always be tons of content and there will always people who reach the max level first and cry for more content early on, no matter what.

IMO they never hit the casual market with WoW, they just made it easier for hardcore players. This game will be the same way.

no one straight up mob grinds in WoW
i did it with one character, it worked well 10-50 after that questing is key.

reread my post, i edited it a lot, maybe it will shed some light on the genre.

That cleared things up a little, and I understand that MMORPGS can not thrive on a "casual gamer" based society. What I want to see from Aion is easy leveling by quests, making it fairly easy to reach max level. But then you have to farm for materials, PVP, run dungeons, and get better equipment to constantly improve your character. I don't have a problem spendin a couple of hours doing that, what I have problems with is 4 hours of killing rats to reach the next level, just so you can grind some more to get enough gold to buy the shiny green dagger of death. Do ya get where I'm goin?

bro
obviously you never understood that WoW had a questing system built in so that you didn't have to mob grind, that was the whole idea behind the game.

I guarantee if you go back and play it now, especially after this patch which added an xp increase for mobs and quests 20-60 you will max level...eventually. much faster then you would have mob grinding.

you're problem was you ignored the quest part, the most important part.
if you want to play Aion when it comes out - try the actual quest system or whatever system they implement to help you level quickest. I guarantee it wont be mob grinding either. sure it will take time, it will take most people time and the idea is to HAVE FUN and to learn/understand the game while you do it. Maybe get some friends to play along with you or something, remember its a game not a chore.

Alright then, thank you for your advice. However, I DID try WoW's questing, and it was boring as hell, I'm looking forward to seeing how interesting Aions questing is (especially with cutscenes), plus, I can not go back and play WoW. As my account was hacked, poor me. Lol. Actually, poor hacker, since I don't have anything good on my account...all that work for nothin...lawl.

My room mate is about to hit 70 on his mage(hes 65 now) he rolled about 2 weeks ago, questing and grinding when he has to, and he hasn't even been going at it very hard. Any less than that and people would be getting max lvl in aion too fast, so i would say its fairly easy. Im sure everyone will get to know him when aion comes out, hes not too big on forums, but he will be here when aion is out.

IMO
Challenge/fun > time/effort

But i completely see how you could like time and effort though, a lot of people play mmo's for the sense of accomplishment, and if thats what brings fun to you, have at it =)

yea ffxi is so time consuming took me close to a year to get my first 75 which was WAR which wouldnt get many invites cuz of all the rangers beeing uber back in the day some of the endgame was fun but u gotta admit waiting 3 hours for a mob to spawn and might not even claim due to other ls's camping it too is crazy

I agree.

Gaming companies shouldnt appeal to the casual or hardcore gamer, it should appeal to all types of gamers. Most people probably agree on it and its probably stupid to even say. I have stated before that most of my RL friends play WoW and I know that the grind in general was decent. Lineage 2 had a horrible grind. ( Sorry if I bring up Lineage 2 alot in post, but it was the only true MMO game that I got to end game content. I also read about games and have alot of RL friends who play games since I go to school for programming ) As "VendorTrash" stated there are also a couple of ways to grind, at least in WoW. Aion, IMO, even if it copied off of WoW ( alot of things are mock offs, in movies, games, etc. It just happens ) , was thinking more toward a larger consumer based ideal. Having more than one way to grind helps players create illusions. I see questing as an illusion for just mob grinding. It gives the player a goal besides just killing the same couple mobs repeatedly. There's an extra reward in xp, story, and items/gold.
In the terms of end game content, thats what pvp is for. You also got future updates, raids, sieges, crafting, taking a breather fr
