Enchanted
Mwhahaha...I have the pleasure of starting this one. And ohh yes Howling...I did do it =P.
First off, we all know how bad recent disney movies are, I use to be a disney fan when I was a kid (who wasn't?), but it seems after Hercules, all the movies went to complete trash. Now I know starting this thread can be suicidal among the men of community....I can already see the "Freak!" and manly grunts of testosterone heading on into this thread. As well as the male homo-phobia which always passes by (Howling being one of them it seems =P) But let's at least hear this one out. Was bored, so browsing along for movies to watch and picked out some goodies, enjoyed them, as I saw the Enchanted cover, I just looked at the picture and turned away, typical Disney trash I thought that floats around. Decided to head over to rotten tomatoes for their current releases on DVD to see what's good...To my amazement, Enchanted has rated a 94%...Considering this outranked Fellowship of the ring, and tied Return of the king (strictly on critic percentage reviews, not actual movie comparison =P), I decided that I had to see what it's about. So I got a hold of the movie in tasty 1080p goodness...And I must say...The one and only good movie from Disney in a VERY long time. For those who haven't seen it, you really should look into it. After all, even with our old bitterness at times, we are all kids at heart =P...Heck, we still all play video games =P, I know I'm a kid at heart. I must say, watching James Marsden (He played Cyclops in X-Men) play a prince running through modern new york trying to find his princess was pretty humorous...His dumbness was very enjoyable to watch...BTW, that chipmunk, ROCK ON! (you'll know what I mean when you see it)...and even though this is a fairy tale based in modern new york, they REALLY pulled it off. With the music, to even the acting which was astonishing. Amy Adam's (lead female role) seriously pulled off the fairy tale damsel in New york..in a humorous way of course at times... But yea..Thoughts? Discuss!...Of course I'll have to bare with the male testosterone issue, but hopefully everyone else has a little kid left in their hearts as well =P...But yea, 94% really did give this movie justice. Let's just hope they don't make a sequel..Which we all know Disney is famous for turning movies to crap...Heck, They even stated Depp was "Ruining the movie" when he displayed his approach to Cap'n Jack =P...

I bought this movie for easter both because I have a little girl and my little sisters were coming over, their ages are actually not much higher then my daughter's.. heh ^^
Anyway I was expecting an ordinary princess fluff tale with the usual comedy, sort of like Ella Enchanted. But the movie was much wittier and surprising, I liked how smartly they added the traditional Disney fairy tale on an exaggerated note and made it seem achingly innocent without inciting a gag reflex like whenever you watch something too painfully wholesome.... The message in this movie is far better then most of anything we subject our kids to on tv, for one it's real, despite the in your face fairy aspects, maybe because the protagonists are so idealistic and then propelled in a flawed world that really hungers for a simpler time... I could go on but I won't ruin it I'm about the reveal the whole plot at this point. I definately recommend this title though for anyone, the humor itself is a treat and I didn't think it was cheesy at all it just fits. |

I took my daughter to see it at the cinema and we both laughed and loved it. The tangle of bicycles and prince was soooo funny. Timothy Spall was hilarious and Susan Sarandon was suitably half gorgeous and half demented.
The humour was what sold it for me but the tale itself was very well done.

I took my lil 7 year old brother to see it a couple months back. Actually, my sister was seeing it with some boy who asked her on a date, and me and my bro (being the perfect older and younger brothers) decided to spy on her.
We actually both end up enjoying it a lot. It was a really funny movie and pretty cute. My sister seemed to have liked it too. She got so entranced by the movie she completely ignored her date the whole time. |

I actually quite liked this film too, it was nice to see what looked like a standard fairytale take on a more modern and slightly more realistic narrative.

People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define Reality. But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true"?. Merely vague concepts. Their "reality" may all be a mirage.
