The Burning Crusade: Sales Record

PARIS, France -- Blizzard Entertainment® today announced that World of Warcraft®: The Burning Crusade™ has broken the day-one sales record to become the fastest-selling PC game ever in North America and Europe, with a worldwide total of nearly 2.4 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of availability. The Burning Crusade, the first expansion set for World of Warcraft, was simultaneously released in North America, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia on 16 January, and on 17 January in Australia and New Zealand.

Blizzard had supplied more than 4 million game boxes to retailers worldwide, and more than 5,000 stores throughout the world had their doors open at midnight to welcome thousands of expectant players.

Day-one sales totals on both continents were similar, with an estimated total of nearly 1.2 million copies sold on the first day in North America and an estimated total of more than 1.1 million copies sold in Europe within the first 24 hours of launch.* By the end of the first day of availability on both continents, a total of more than 1.7 million players had already logged in and upgraded World of Warcraft to play The Burning Crusade.

hehe, good job blizzard. one of the best things about WoW, even if you don't like it, is that is has generated a lot more interest in mmorpgs. and the more interest there is, the more money goes into development. more money equals higher production values and hopefully better games. although i expect Aion to be fantastic, it never hurts to have several great games on the marktet

If you're talking about graphics I agree. That's the part that makes me less satisifyed with Wow, tired of the cartoonish style it uses. I know it's this colorful fantasy setting with gnomes, dwarfs, elves and all that, but they could still make the game look better without ruining that. Abit more details etc wouldn't hurt.

agree 100%... then again, if they upped the texture size, etc., then every schmo with a 56k modem, and video card from 1998 wouldnt be able to run the game...

i think their art direction has a lot more to do with the lowest common demoninator than anything else...

Still think WoW is more of a franchise now than a game. I think my days of WoW are coming to an end and with it the start of something better. Vanguard.

Well i did not buy it but as i see for my freinds its good but i believe that until you reach lvl 70 will be nice after that the reasons i stoped will be the same!

For me it's the opposite. I'm so tired of grinding lvl's and I can't wait to get 70 and start PvP'ing for real, maybe check out the new raid dungeons as well. Then when I get tired of all that I can start lvling my blood elf hunter, learning a new class will definitly make the game more interesting.

ya, i think the blood elf character option alone might get me back into the game for at least 2-3 months... never really played on the horde side, and having a smexy character like that, with (from what ive read) a fantastic 1-20 starting zone, sure sounds like fun to me!

Hehe Playing as blood elf will relieve me of the horrible boredom of grinding in the old starting zones, oh the drudgery. That was basicaly the reason I didn't want to roll a new char, now it's not a problem. Trying out a new class and seeing new sights as well, should be fun.

well i played only horde side i can say but i was in good guild and i have reall life freinds on the best guilds on wow and i saw the instances even for beta but not really different that the wow before!This is my opinion so does not mean its like that!A for pvp yea i went a rank 14 warrior with the old system but i do not like alot the new changes!!
