There was already a Thread about your favourite music, but it was way back in 2006, and is actually one of the oldest threads in the Culture and Media section.

I don't want to revive a dead thread, but not we have lots more members in the community why not bring the topic up again?

I love music, and lots of types of it too. I have my favourites which include Electro House, Drum & Bass, Oldskool Hip-Hop, Grunge Rock and some early punk stuff.

As far as bands go, I would say I most enjoy The Stooges, The Pixies, Jimmi Hendrix and some of The Smiths stuff. As for my favourite Drum & Bass producers I love High Contrast, Roni Size and Kubiks & Lomax. Electro would have to be Armand Van Helden and Tim Deluxe. Oldskool Rap you are talking about anything produced by DJ Premier or Pete Rock.

Like I said, it's a very big mix of music. I think you shouldn't isolate yourself to just one form of music, you could be missing out on some sweet riffs.

I like MOST kinds of rock, and ALL forms of dance, that includes techno, house, trance, euro, progressive, etc.etc.

I even listen to J-Rock and J-Dance

Oh but there is a point where it gets a little old so I switch to anything except no melody Rap.

Anything from Elton John to Meshuggah...most commonly listened to stuff is swedish melodeath metal, symphonic metal (girl singers) and 90's alternative.

Favourite bands are In Flames, Soilwork, Scar Symmetry, Dark Tranquillity, Textures, Quo Vadis, Within Temptation, Epica, Lacuna Coil, I Mother Earth, Green Day, Arch Enemy and Metallica...in no particular order.

Metal, classical and electronic make up the majority of my collection. I can't listen to any one genre for too long or I tend to get bored. But my favorite bands are Opeth and Arcturus.

although until recently ive been with a computer for the past 2 months. I dont really get bored of my favourite bands...I get as many listens to a band this week as i did 20 weeks ago...But generally I get into a band more than another, or a style of playlist, and i just run it on my comp for a week or so....I find it hard to get bored of the style of music i like.

I think Sasha and Jon Digweed are great, some of sasha's newer stuff is a little weak.

Whilst I don't listen to Techno much, I think its a great genre Yakuzan, some of the older stuff from 2000-2004 is good. It looks as though Omegaforce and myself have some similar interests, I too like pretty much all dance; and most rock.

Calindor, this band name has got to be the most ingtreguing name ever- Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Just what is that? Whilst typing this post I just heard the coolest cover of a song ever, it was that Budweiser advert with a band playing Salt N Pepa - Push it Good using Budweiser bottles. Sounded awesome :-)

I hate gangsta rap that being said.....I enjoy most old rock(the beatles, pink floyd, ACDC, blue oyster cult, rush, sabbath, dio, metallica ect...) most new rock/metal(soad, tool, opeth, machinehead, lamb of god) but I also listen to classical music and all sorts of off the wall junk.

Mariah Carey is my bread and Madonna is my butter, I can listen to these 2 all day, everyday without ever getting sick of their songs.

On another note...anything Trance/Chillout/House/Dance or Techno I like. Hiphop/Rap is ok, but I will prefer R&B over them any day. Only thing I'm not fond off is in the metal/hard rock category :P.

Pop to hard rock. I can't stand country, rap, or hip hop. Really looking forward to 3 Doors Down, Distrubed, The Offspring, Shinedown, and Ra's new CDs. All the songs they've released from them sound like great directions for them all to be taking.

Anything goes with me : from classical ( fond of Bach and 19th century operas ,i.e. Verdi and Pucinni , not particularly interested in german opera stuff ) to "modern day " music . If I had to pick groups I'd say Beatles and Rolling Stones , The Police , Alanis Morisette , Coldplay, Nelly Furtado,Madonna etc .... I don't like House ,trance or rap although I do acknowledge there's quality-differences in those styles as well.

I listen mostly to metal (pretty much all subgenres of it), though usually I like it best when it's innovative, like a mix of death metal with flamenco or with classical music and whatnot.
I'm pretty open-minded regarding music especially when it comes to things I can dance to, but on my own I listen mostly just to metal and belly dance music.

I'm very selective about music, but i have no genre preference, its all depends of song.

Most, if not all of the rock genre. I'm more of a fan of great guitar playing though than anything. Metal, Classic Rock, 70s, 80s, 90s. Bands are too many to list, but it ranges from foreign death/thrash/whatever metal like CoB to real solid classic rock like The Who.
