Darkfall Online - New Gameplay Trailer

the battle system is not something that hasnt been done before, just the combination if what they are implementing is cool. if it is free i can see myself playing it for at least a hand full of hrs, but a lot of its selling points are in games i already play/look forward to. ultimately i think the combination of PSU/Aion/GW2/Diablo3 well suit me just fine as far as this section of the gaming market goes.

Second, they are planning free trial before deciding to pay for it.

Sure all features look appealing at first but are they gonna pull all of that off? I doubt it but they can prove me wrong. I agree though that combat looks choppy and the animations and graphics are, well, out of date.. I mean look at the blood splatter and cannons fired on ships, good examples of bad graphics imo... Imagine 1000 people at the same place for an epic battle, sounds like an epic lag fest for me... Since the masses (who play WoW :P) will look at trailers and the first thing that will come to mind will be ZOMG LOLZ AT TEH EPIC FAIL GFX!!!111!1! they won't consider playing DF which is only strengthened by the fact that DF has little to none advertising, a strong player base will be hard to get. People, when looking for an alternative to WoW (huge MMO player base) will rather look for games like WAR and probably Aion (hopefully ) in my opinion and not niche-games like DF. A game is only as good as it's number of subscribers and it's community and DF fails at both of these aspects (probably).

I prefer a polished game graphics wise like Aion and probably D3 and GW2 like the above poster, but might just MIGHT give DF a try when I miraculously get bored of Aion and decide to test new MMOs, at the moment I am not hyped for DF though...

We'll just have to see.

I'm gonna steer clear of this game for one reason. With in two weeks after release the community will be at each others throats. I just cant see how this company can pull this off after so many have failed trying to do the same thing. The company promises so much and the Darkfall community does likewise. I fear the hard core fans of this game are in for a hard fall. Only time will tell.

LOL so far all i've seen darkfall hyped up about is that it is *next gen* - someone please decirbe to me, how this pile of poopies is taking mmo gaming to the next generation.

Graphics = good but realistically not amazing. - If I want good graphics, i'll play crysis tyvm.

Gameplay - Doesn't really seem very special at all. Unless of couuse you mean SPWECIAL! {:-)|

IMO its only hyped cuz of little kids getting all aroused over *next gen*. Although, guess I can't knock it till i've tried it, rather than from just watching an epic fail of a trailer

Here's my problem with Darkfall.

It proclaims to be a full-loot full-pvp game and which is really what is getting people excited, but at the same time, it is saying it is a game based on skill, not gear.

Okay... lets examine this. You can full-loot someone you just used your skill to defeat... but the game isn't gear dependent.

In online worlds, you are expected to die. Therefore, since you are going to die, spending hours getting super awesome stuff (if it exists since its a skill game) would be pointless, because you lose it at your first pvp death. So really, 99% of the players are going to be running around in normal gear because they don't want to lose anything special and therefore killing someone to get the ZOMG FULL LOOTZ is in fact pointless.

Any game I've seen where you get someone's money when they die has a system around it, IE bank account, and PVPers just deposit everything prior to adventuring, so now you're getting crap armor that is a dime a dozen and no money, basically taking all their lousy gear, just because you can. That's uber.

Now, I haven't looked into Darkfail much so I may be mistaken, and please correct me if I am wrong, but I have a feeling that people are seeing "Full loot PvP" and not really thinking into what that really is.

I think your dead on Knite. (Of course it will be skill based and not gear based because of what you just stated) Its very stupid of them to brag about this as being something special that the Dev's coded into the game. The only thing full pvp will do is create hate for there fellow players. Some ppl want Aion to have PK option in game, but this would break the story and RVR this game is built around.
