How can people say Disturbed is bad? - Page 3

Because, silly, Disturbed is not REAL METAL (jk, they are nu-metal though)

Musically, technically, lyrically. How can I listen to Disturbed after witnessing the beautiful technical post-thrash material that is Meshuggah?

Or if you prefer something more epic (with just a teeny tinge of black metal) then Ex-Deo might be more your thing.

All those nu-metal bands really suck... well, maybe you don't think they suck, but really their sound is definitely NOT hard, nor brutal, nor epic, nor want me to to headbang till my head falls off...

I thought I'd bring in some good death and death/post-trash into this thread since you folks were bringing in the FOLK METAL.

Because folk metal is awesome..

After power metal probably the best genre if done right..
Sadly, most fail, both in PM and FM..

As for Black Metal, another great genre, you can't go wrong, because the worse you sound, the better you are.

Disturbed sounds all EXACTLY the same. They play with syllables in the lyrics, and they never change tuning, and they keep the same "chugga chugga" riffs.. they are okay but that's it. They're not great nor will there ever be as long as the style stays exactly the same as it's always been.

I learned Disturbed's new album on guitar in a few days, going at it casually. Goes to show you how complicated their sh*t is, right?

Disturbed is in the nu-metal genre with Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and uh.. not sure who else. Linkin Park absolutely blows now, thanks to their producer, and no one cares about Papa Roach anymore, so yes, they are good for "their genre."

I can understand the growling just fine, you're just not used to it I guess. I don't say another language sucks because I can't understand it.

You defending your musical tastes and bashing someone elses makes you no better than the person your bashing :P Why don't we argue religion and politics? Might as well, it's all the same ****. It's amazing to me that the human race can accomplish many things but people still can't smash the concept of an "opinion" through their thick f*cking skulls.

well said.

i dont understasnd how people can dismiss certain genres like that. especially when people out there listen to 'rap', which by definition of the word, is not music.

i love music from just about any genre, my favourites include REM, the pixies, nivana, mudhoney and other 'mellow' bands. right through to dillinger escape plan, annotations of an autopsy or the berzerker. im a muscision myself, and i like anything thats well written, or well played.

back onto disturbed though, like i said before they show skill and they are pretty good at what they do. but they are often boring, and they dont experiment enough.

Disturbed is incredibly energetic and gets you pumped up. It's not technically or lyrically amazing, and there's nothing that special other than David D.'s funny growls. But they just get the energetic feel perfectly, which is probably why they're quite popular in the Army for getting soldiers pumped up before going into combat.

I've been listening to them since The Sickness. I kind of stopped listening to them for a few months, but have started again, mostly because I just noticed that Criminal, from their new album, is awesome. When driving, I can't help but speed up when listening to it, because it's just so energetic.

I understand why lots of people don't like them. Oh well. I do like them, I don't really care if others don't.

They're gpod, the lead guitar's distortion is REALLY annoying though, ruined the whole song IMO.

Besides, power metal is probably more metal than death metal, since even to this day, it's still heavily rooted in heavy metal, which is the one true metal genre.
The only genre more metal is probably traditional doom metal, which is essentially heavy metal played at slower paces.

you are supose to make up your own mind and dont mindlessly walk around with your headphones like a sheep.. ofc some of them do belive in satan but very few belive satan is a real person as in christianity, some just use satanism as a symbol against religion and mainly chiristianity (as i do) i cosider myselfe atheist so i do not belive in anything other then facts.. (such as the christian plague) others belive satan is a force/energy and it doesnt have anything to do with christianity directly (evil vs good) and ofc you have the church of satan.. they have some what good life filosophy but there are so many wankers in that system so it is realy just a joke...

you realy have no idea what you are talking about.. but you are american so i realy dont expect you to understand this...
