Is Blizzard setting a new trend for MMO companies?

game + bots



if the microtransactions generate enough money to hire more gms.... im all for it.

EQ2 has something like this, called StationCash..

you give 'em RL money and you get in-game "StationCash".. that you can use to buy appearance armor, name changes, race changes, sex changes, server changes, house items, etc..

really nyerked a lot of people off and to be honest, you're right.. selling plat / gold and other items vital to the game are only just around the corner. ...but then again, even if they're not, why the nyerk are the devs working on this garbage, as opposed to game fixes / updates?

waste of valuable resources imo..

Because Blizzard is extremely greedy. They said "there will be no transfer from PvE tp PvP due to it being unfair"... they said a lot of things like that and look what we have now. For a little real money almost anything is possible. Do you think they'll stop here selling pets? Believe me, if peeps are paying Dollars for their Gear Blizzard... or more ACTIVISION ( I hate that company since I read about that Kotick guy, man what a Nyerkhole) will sell it.

I'm not worried about two pets. I'm worryd that Blizzard opened pandorah's box here,many of us wow gamers hoped they would never open.

well the ppl that are doing this/handling prob dont do fixes or updates........and what more can WoW do???

No, but for games which are dying it's very common however that the creator charges money for items.

well I ment as in the donation part not give meh money heres your uber items go.

If company's that run MMOs give ONLY costume items for you donating then im good even if half of it goes to them and other half goes to what ever foundation they pick or if they allow you to

yes... the people who work on this are Literally the same people who design new content. the boss came up to them and said "stop working on this new patch, you're going to make people pay real money for pets now"

we will never see a new patch now :-(

Lets play a game...

Company 1 - Produces roughly 2-3 large MMOs a year. Puts enough development into them so that they stay afloat long enough to make money. Many of the MMO's are advertised as "Free", however when you get in them and want to enjoy them, there are hints for RMT offers all over.

Company 2 - Produces 1 MMO over the past 6 years (don't forget beta). They put out a RMT pet, for the first time in the history of the game, then promise half of the profit to go to charity and they are evil, greedy monsters.
